Mum 70th birthday gift

Hi, just wondering if anyone has ideas on what to do for my mum's 70th?

I was thinking of taking her away to Europe for a few nights (I get a discount on travel through work) but Brexit is worrying me. If I did that option it probably wouldn't be until next year. as I don't think they had any availability until May or June. Or I could take her away somewhere in the UK for a couple of nights perhaps. But again, worried about Brexit affecting the price of things and other stuff!

She's not into massages (never had one) as she has a bad neck and doesn't want anyone touching it otherwise that kind of thing could have been an option. Doesn't have any hobbies apart from gardening.

I joked about her doing a wing-walk but she wouldn't be wanting to do anything adventurous. Unfortunately.

It's kinda difficult. I'd like to do something special rather than just take her out to dinner somewhere.

Any ideas?

Depending where you are in the country, perhaps a day trip on a luxury train, including meals. Not adventurous as such, but still interesting.

Or maybe a day at cookery school for both of you, they are fun, not pressured, usually include a meal. There might be one with a celebrity chef nearby?

I was going to suggest British Pullman or Northern Belle depending on whether you’re north or south. I did this for my Dad’s 90th and he loved it. Especially as I threw in a chauffeur driven car to take us from home to the station and back again in the evening.

Could you go to nice hotel close by for afternoon tea? Or somewhere w reasonable car journey away ? Where abouts are you maybe people could suggest nice places?

We did family portraits and then picnic lunch with family.
It was a beautiful day and she loves the photos

Thanks everyone. Those train journeys look lovely but a bit out of my budget unfortunately. I might see if I can find something closer and cheaper - I'm in Scotland.
