My doctors are only doing adults jab atm still no opening for children's, were can I go and pay to have it done? DD is 3 so I assume she has it up the nose?

If you get it elsewhere it will be the injection. Think superdrug are doing it for children. Your child will get it for free at the GP once they have stocks

I get my son done at Superdrug as that is the only chemist I've found willing to give it to kids, although it's the jab not the nasal one. He's 11 though, not sure if they have a minimum age. Although not sure if there are any available at the moment, my DD just had her vaccine at school postponed due to shortages.

Don’t they get them free via gp anyway
Mine now get it in school and haven’t had it yet, tends to be end October/beg November. No way would they want the jag and I’d rather subject them to the spray a bit later than take them early to get the injection. I am getting mine at work next week free. Secondary kids don’t get so going to get 14 year old done and older son is paying for his at chemist as youngest has asthma & am a paeds nurse so important for me to get it

Ahh ok I will wait then! I thought the chemists may have the children's spray available but they must not have a supply yet hence no appointments! I am having mine tomorrow so thought they would of had them in by now x

Children would get the spray and I don't think pharmacists offer it, though I'm sure a private GP would.

Children only get the injected version on NHS if they require one for medical reasons (eg conditions which mean they should not receive a live attenuated vaccine) or are cohabitants of someone immuno-suppressed.

Children over 2 but not yet at school should get it at their GP, so keep enquiring.

Superdrug does the injection for children over 6 months. Dont think they offer the spray

Ribeebie · 11/10/2019 17:57

I think Superdrug only offer the injection. The nasal flu vaccine is more effective for children over 2 than the injection.

There have been supply delays getting the vaccines this year so I imagine even if a pharmacy offered nasal flu they would also be waiting for stock. I'd just wait and get it through the GP if I were you.

Boots are doing them. Saw it advertised in there while having mine.

dementedpixie · 11/10/2019 18:03

The youngest Boots will do it for is age 11 and that's using their private service

iMatter · 11/10/2019 19:07

I'm going to Boots for ds1 (14).

Ds2(13) has asthma so he'll get it anyway.

Ds1 had flu last year and he was so ill for so long. Ds2 barely had a sniffle.
