Bruising from scratching?

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 10/10/2019 21:10

Last night the back of my calf was REALLY itchy. I don’t usually have any eczema or anything but lately my skin has been really itchy.

This morning getting out the shower, I see a massive bruise in the area I was scratching!

Anyone have any ideas?

I'd get that checked out tbh.

I remember a poster recently having the same symptom (among a few others) though I don't know what the outcome of it was...

I get something like that. It's internal bruising from the muscles being fatigued. Happens more if very overweight, which I am.

I'd get yourself checked out but it's not hugely serious.

I get this too. Always get super itchy legs after shaving, then end up with bruised legs.

Thanks everyone. The most info I can find is it’s a possible sign of anaemia / iron deficiency?

It can't be right to bruise from scratching when you've not even broken the skin.

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 10/10/2019 22:12

I’ve only ever had that when pregnant. My iron levels were fine so I assumed it was something to do with the vascular changes caused by pregnancy hormones. I reckon you should see your GP maybe.

Could be many things, best get checked out by gp. I was diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythemia a couple of years ago. I bruised whenever I scratched, especially upper legs. I had a gene test to diagnose it after my platelet count remained very high in blood tests.

Ok i may ask gp next time
