Plague of frogs, what to do?

We moved to this house in April. The garden was and is still pretty overgrown and we are swarmed with frogs. We can't even mow the grass without a massacre (DH is terrified of them also) Is there any way to keep them out or deter them? We don't have a pond and none of the neighbours do either so I can't figure out why they are here. DH just opened the back door to two of them sat there looking at him (or so he says Grin)

They'll be hibernating very soon anyway, do you have a log-pile or compost heap? They'll probably head there if you do.

We had some living under our very damp and decaying shed. They came out to play when it rained ! They laid their spawn in the drain and we tried to save it but unfortunately it never hatched. They are harmless and keep the slugs down.
Please contact a local wildlife group for advice as frogs and toads are in decline.

We had them. 190 foot of grass with hidden frogs. It was awful, they either tried to hop away or screamed. Quite traumatic, hence the lack of mowing that occurred. We moved!

Get a cat!!

ArthurtheCatsHumanSlave · 11/10/2019 09:17

I love toads Grin but I think we only have one. The cat keeps bringing him in, and he makes an amusing "ker-slap" sound on the tile. I must admit though, he seems to be getting a bit depressed at being lugged around so much. He is surprisingly warm and dry when you pick him up. We don't have slugs either, so I continue to pop him under the Hosta's when he get's brought in.

Oooh...I would love a few toads to keep the pests down in my garden. Not sure they'd last long with my four cats though Sad

wheresmymojo · 11/10/2019 09:29

Actually...make that two cats...the other two would most likely try to befriend it.

This is so odd, I would hate it if I were you OP! Sympathies.

I was with my DH for 16 years before I found ut he was terrified of frogs. Just moved into theis house which had a garden full and found him cowering in the corner of the patio protecting himself with a broom as a giant (not) frog cornered him
