Will the GP do an internal tomorrow?

I think I have endometriosis.

I have to go to the GP as my period is coming up and I'm terrified. Last month I was in the floor in pain, white as a sheet, I went freezing cold and was vomiting.
I also keep bleeding during sex.

If I go with these symptoms tomorrow will they do an internal? I want to be prepared.

I know nobody can say for sure but just the liklihood sort of thing.

I'd imagine they'd possibly do a smear and have a look for anything obvious.

I went to the gp for horrible periods. No internal exam then. Was just referred to gynaecologist at the hospital. However, did have internal scans at the hospital to check for fibroids.

I think it depends on the gp.
My gps all seem to avoid it at all costs, even when I went for my 6 week check (10 weeks after childbirth) and said I was concerned with the pain and stitches Aftermath they didn’t look at all just said yeh it can take months to get properly better and stop hurting Hmm

I have also previously years ago been with bum issues that resulted in a colonoscopy, again no gp exam just a referral

I think I may have a prolapse too 😩

I haven't been in ages and have a list as long as my arm

Possibly. I went to GP as I was having a lot of pain during my period as well as for a couple of days before and after. They did do an examination, and then referred me for an internal scan.

I have endometriosis and adenomyosis. The pain some months is like being in labour. I also sometimes vomit, I think it's just because the pain is so bad. ☹️

It's miserable dealing with the pain and dreading it coming. I take Feminax ultra and paracetamol but the thing that helps me with the pain the most is a heat pad. I hope you get some answers. Don't let them fob you off, I've heard so many women just being told its normal or due to age.

I'm so sorry you suffer too monchat :(. Flowers

How did you get a diagnosis?

Also does anyone know if you are still allowed to book double appointments? I have 2 issues I want to talk about

I've had so many tests and things done but I think it was a laparoscopy for endo and the internal ultrasound for adenomyosis. I've also had colposcopy but I think that was for ectropian. Honestly, I've lost track. I seemed to hit 30 and everything went wrong. 😬

As for double appointments, it probably depends on your surgery and if they have two together. Any appointment is rare at our surgery. If the issues are in any way linked you might be able to do both in one appointment. I find certain doctors rush you more than others.

Good luck.

I doubt it to be honest (currently sat in gynae ward in hospital 🙄)

Say you want a referral - they might start trying to mess about with your contraception etc but they can't diagnose something like endometriosis or a reason for painful periods there and then.

Hope you get on ok - try to be quite adamant that you would like to see a gynae specialist.

ExcitedForFuture · 10/10/2019 21:32

I'd say it's unlikely OP. It's more likely you'll get referred for an internal scan. That's what I had earlier this year (I do have endo and was getting symptoms again). GP didn't do an internal.

Likethebattle · 10/10/2019 21:34

I had unexplained bleeding and the gp just told me to book a nurse appointment for a smear, as it was due and some swabs.

PinkDaffodil2 · 10/10/2019 21:39

If you’re bleeding after sex they will be keen to have a look I imagine unless you’ve had a normal smear very recently, or if you’re due they might get you booked in for one. If you think you have a prolapse they ought to have a look too.
One issue is that an internal can take a good chunk of the 10 minute appointment. If your most pressing issue is the painful periods and you want to discuss investigations / management / endometriosis they might book you in for another appointment for the internal.
Sorry if that wasn’t very helpful!
