Faint blue bruise & lump on back of babies neck

Has anyone had any experiences of a faint blueish bruise appear with a lump underneath? I noticed this at the back of my babies neck (at the bottom right) about 3/4 weeks ago now and it hasn't disappeared. Have been to the GP who has referred us to hospital, currently waiting for the apt but going crazy with worry. Could it be a burst blood vessel? Would really appreciate any similar experiences or general thoughts. Thanks

How old is baby? Could it be a birth mark that has grown?

How old is your baby?

A baby I used to nanny had something very similar and it was the beginning of a 'strawberry mark' which is a pinky birthmark which disappears by the time they are 6.

It started as a bruise like Mark until she was about 18 months

He is 5 and a half months. He does already have a strawberry birth mark on top of his head, and some pinky/red blotches at the bottom of his neck since birth.
He is perfectly fine in himself, gaining weight well eating, sleeping etc.
I dont think the bruise of lump have got bigger, there are also a few red dots around it - all very faint.

The lump is under the skin if that helps, rather than a birth mark type lump thats raised.

Can I just say, 'strawberry marks' do not always disappear by the time a child is 6.
My niece is almost 23 and although have shrunk, are still on her stomach.

He's 5 and a half months. I'm not convinced it's a birth mark as the lump is underneath the skin and I'm not sure the colours of the bruise like mark are those of a birthmark, if that makes sense? but I guess they can all look different. Hopefully the referall will come quickly, as much as I want it too I am also dreading it.

blue haemangioma....my son has one on his arm. He never had it at birth but noticed a blue mark on his arm when he was 2 weeks old, my health visitor thought it was a bruise. I was actually seeing a skin specialist at the time so took my son to that doctor who looked at it and told me that was what it was. It did get quite big over a couple of years but is now nearly invisible as my son is now in his 20s

Strawberry marks do not disappear by the time you are 6. I’m fast approaching 50 and still have mine.

I noticed my daughter had something like that OP. The blueish bit is barely noticeable but there's a lump under the skin about the size of a large pea. It moves around under her skin and doesn't seem to bother her at all. The GP said its a cyst and that it should go away on its own with time but to take her back if it becomes painful or gets larger.

Could be a birthmark? DD2 had a mark on her back that looked like a bruise when she was a baby. Every time a medical professional saw it they did a double take. Each time I explained that it was not a bruise. It didn't look anything like a birth mark - it looked like a bruise. She is now 24 and although its faded, you can still see it if you look hard enough.
