Aged 6-12

Not scared easily. Love gruesome history.

We’ve done London dungeon wondering if it’s worth it again?
Anything else fun going on?

Have a look at Historic Royal Palaces, National Trust or English Heritage. Lots of properties run themed events. Some of the castles/palaces especially go in for a bit of child-level blood and gore for October half term.

Depending on your appetite for travelling - I class Alton towers as midlands. They are Camelot and have a (not London) dungeon and various other spooky attractions for Halloween. You can stay in the park after dark and there's various mazes and other things around the gothic mansion in the grounds. You might get fireworks at the end too.

Alton towers a bit far to drive for a day. We’ve been there on a 2 day visit a few years ago, but can’t justify spending £500 + for half term. Even though my kids loved the castle area

Tulley's Farm is worth a look

Teddybear45 · 10/10/2019 13:58

Honestly if money’s tight I’d skip the halloween outing and take the kids to London during christmas.

TottieandMarchpane · 10/10/2019 14:01

She didn’t say money’s too tight for half term trips. She said she hasn’t got the budget for £500+ trips Grin

MollyButton · 10/10/2019 14:03

I'd also suggest Tulleys Farm if you are this side of London.

Teddybear45 · 10/10/2019 14:06

But it’d probably cost close to that taking the kids to London too, as the Halloween stuff is in places you need to pay entry for. Plus there’s the cost of transport which isn’t cheap from the Midlands.

TottieandMarchpane · 10/10/2019 14:08

If Alton Towers is too far for a day trip and she originally wanted London suggestions, I’m guessing she’s closer to London than the Midlands.

Teddybear45 · 10/10/2019 14:11

London is easier to get to from most parts of the Midlands than Alton Towers as you have to drive to the latter and can take a 45-70min train journey for the latter from pretty much most parts except the bits closest to AT.

TottieandMarchpane · 10/10/2019 14:15

Ah, that explains it. I always do public transport inside London and car to go anywhere else.

DreamingofSunshine · 10/10/2019 14:21

London Eye has a children's Halloween event on, storytelling and costumes I think.

museummumblogger · 18/10/2019 13:10

I have just published a guide to October half term activities in museums and there's quite a few Halloween themed ones. We loved Hever Castle so if you haven't been yet that's worth a visit museummum.com/2019/10/18/whats-on-october-half-term-in-london-museum-mum-picks/

MBM18 · 19/10/2019 07:46

Broadditch Farm in Kent. The night event is scary but the day time event wouldn't be.
