When baby outgrows then snuggle bath?

Chopsicle · 09/10/2019 19:51

He's only 9 months but he's big for his age and seems all squished in the snuggle bath now. I'm loathed to fill a whole bath just for the 10 minutes he's in it every night.

Is there any bigger baby baths that come recommended??

At that age I just did the bath (well I always did tbh) it's not masses of water, just a few inches and a great time for playing. Slip mat or similar in the bottom and some empty bottles to play with, keeps them occupied for ages.

You can get a bath dam so you only use half but tbh they're not cheap you'd need to run a fair few baths before you'd make your money back

Not tried it myself but something like this?

You don’t need to bath every night of you don’t want to. It’s quite bad for baby skin. I used to only bath dd if she was filthy, or every other day or so.

Still went upstairs, laid on a towel, did baby massage, jimjams on etc. Saves a ton of water!

Ohnoherewego62 · 09/10/2019 21:24

Kitchen sink?

If it's a decent enough size and he sits up well.

thatguiltyfeeling · 09/10/2019 21:29

Put him in the bath with you every few baths, or have yours, then drain it until it's a few inches and pop him in?

Teddybear45 · 09/10/2019 21:30

Moby have one you can use until toddler age.

SlB09 · 09/10/2019 21:34

I used a sponge wedge I got off Amazon in the bath, only need an inch of water and lasted ages, he loved splashing around in the big bath, picture arms and legs joyfully flailing everywhere!

MrsLem · 09/10/2019 21:35

This worked well for a month or two for us then we just had him sitting in the bath Smile

We've got one of those MrsLem, DD loves it. John Lewis were selling them for about £10 a couple of weeks back

Venger · 09/10/2019 21:47

If he can sit up unaided then the safest option is no bath seat and instead just use a non-stop mat for him to sit on (ikea do a children's one that's bath length). The bath seat linked above has been involved in tipping incidents where, even with a parent right there, the child has leaned over to splash or grab a toy and the seat has slid/toppled over, the suction cups on the bottom have then been attached to the side of the bath instead of the bottom and the parents has struggled to free the child because of the angle of the seat.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 09/10/2019 22:07

Few inches of water in the bath. Sometimes, DH would have a bath before/after and so he would either top up DD/DS's bath water, or leave a bit of his for them. I would just sit them up at 9mo and use a bath mat so they don't slip.

We also didn't bath every night unless visibly dirty. Every other night with a good bum wash in between.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 09/10/2019 22:09

Or, get a big Really Useful Box. That's what we've used on holiday!

MissDai5y · 09/10/2019 22:18

We only have shower cubicles in our flat so we got this

Skip Hop Moby Smart Sling 3-Stage Baby Bath Tub, Blue www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01AFQI3J8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_a4KNDb14TZNG0

DD is 16mth and we'll be using it for a while.

IWouldPreferNotTo · 09/10/2019 22:20

I'm still using the Shnuggle despite him being a bit big as he is still enjoying it. It's become less a sit and chill and more punch the water, splash, stand up, throw toys out and scream in triumph. Really, it's mainly beating the absolute crap out of the water and playing with his balls.

My view is that it's 10% getting him clean, 40% having fun and 50% setting the scene for going to bed so the size doesn't matter.

maryberryslayers · 09/10/2019 22:21

Just fill the bath a few inches and let him sit up in it on a non slip mat. Much less faff than filling a baby bath and more fun for them too!

Yoohoo16 · 09/10/2019 22:30

We’ve got a baby dam. Really good.

Timeless19 · 09/10/2019 22:34

We got a toddler sized bath from Aldi a few months ago. Might still be around.

M0reGinPlease · 09/10/2019 22:37

The Ikea baby bath is massive (and only about £7 from memory). My DD was in it until she was about three! Now my mum uses it as a laundry basket 😂

justasking111 · 09/10/2019 22:40

Guess I am the only mum who picked up baby and showered him with me holding him. When older they loved sitting in the shower tray with water running over them.

TheSunAlsoRises · 09/10/2019 23:39

@justasking111

We do showers too for our 17 months old so much easier to get her clean. Baths are mostly for playing for us.

shreddednips · 09/10/2019 23:39

We don't have a bath so I've tried to get DS used to the shower. When he was littler I popped him in a little seat but now he sits under the shower on a slip mat and is perfectly happy. I still run him a baby bath for fun now and then, but I find a shower much quicker!

TheScruffyDog · 10/10/2019 03:58

Put a baby bath or a big plastic storage box inside the bath and fill it. Saves loads of water and you can just tip it straight out. (You can put a non slip bathmat inside a storage box too.)
