High Cortisol levels

Hi everyone,

I've been having lots of health issues, most recently the last 2 years. I've finally got answers and it looks like i have high hormone levels, specifically Cortisol.
It's nice to actually know what wrong and whilst i feel better I'm now looking at what i can do to sort myself out. (I have a few more tests to do so haven't really had much advise from the doctor, I also live abroad so it's a little different to how the doctor works in the UK)

Has anyone else suffered with this at all? Any advise?

I was diagnosed with Obscure Auditory Dysfunction in June 2018 caused by high levels of cortisol. I ignored the diagnosis and had a breakdown 3 months later.

Oh really! What have you done since to bring the Cortisol levels down?

I was signed off work sick from Sep-Jan. I take medication - Prozac. I try to plan in rest days. Walk outside.

Still trying to figure out how to change my life so I can cope.

Are you going to see an endocrinologist? I wouldn't take action until you see one. I had high cortisol on several blood tests, and saw an endocrinologist for further tests and thankfully it wasn't anything serious.

I'm awaiting the next steps. I've had the first round of tests and they now want me to go back for more bloods and I'm having an ultrasound as I'm also having problems with prelonged periods.
I've been told to lose weight which is fine, I'm just trying to be proactive as the first appointment was only yesterday

Could it be Cushing's disease?
This is caused by excess cortisol.

Symptoms include weight gain, especially centrally, around the face (characterized by a distinctive "full moon" shape) & also far can be stored in a "hump" on the upper shoulders at the back.
However, it is controllable with meds, don't worry.
Please see an Endocrinologist as soon as you can, they are the only ones who can diagnose & treat you properly.
You may also need diagnostic imaging of your pituitary gland to confirm the cause.
Good luck x

I'm not sure, but i found the same information as you posted when i searched earlier. I'm having these additional bloods then I'l know whats happening from here.

In the last 2 years I've gone from around a 14 to a 22 Shock My diet hasn't really changed that much and pretty much all the symptoms that cushings describe is me to a tee!

Scary, but at least i know it can be controlled by meds Smile
