Please help me with my hair straighteners

Have just had a shortish choppy bob with waves (see pic that I took to hairdresser), and am very happy with it, and it looks exactly like the photos. The hairdresser used straighteners to put the defined waves in it and I thought 'oh that'll be easy, I'll get some straighteners' Hahaha.

Have had a go and realised I have absolutely no idea what she did with them, and all I end up with is straight hair or right angle bends Grin Hair is naturally slightly wavy so I can get it to look tousled pretty easily, but can some clever soul tell me how to get those defined waves with straighteners please? Thank you!

I've no idea but I would look on YouTube, I bet there are videos showing how it's done

Go back to the hairdresser and say you'll pay for a short lesson - demo.

I like to think I am pretty good at styling my hair but producing curls with straighteners is beyond me, and I have no idea why as I have watched my friends do it and tonnes of videos on YouTube.

I skipped the tricky part by just buying a curling wand. You can get ones with various sized attachments that give you different styles i.e. tight curls/ waves/ crimps. Have a wee look on Amazon etc, they aren't particularly difficult and will save you so much hassle!

That style would be easier with large barrel curling tongs, clamp them midway up the section of hair, make sure you leave the ends out of the tongs & wind towards the roots, twist the hair as you take the tongs out & cool the hair in your hand. Rake your fingers through with your head upside down when finished. Use volumising or salt spray products, a bit of dry shampoo is also good. Finish by separating strands & hairspray.

Start by blow drying with a big round brush & volumising spray, once dry, section hair by clipping all the hair above your ears up, tong the hair left out, then do the rest of the hair below parting level & then the rest. Spray with salt spray before taking your fingers through.

Thanks everyone. Glad it's not just me who thinks that what we used to call curling tongs would be a bloody sight easier. It's messing with my brain that straighteners can make curls. I want to persist with these to see if I can crack it as I've just bought them. Will look on YouTube, and if I fail (again), throw myself on the mercy of my lovely hairdresser. Thank you everyone, wish me luck Grin

I have wavy hair but I use my straighteners to add extra waves at the side where it gets flattened at night. I am not the best hairstylist but it is honestly really easy, it's a bit like the technique for curling ribbon with scissors for parcels Smile

Now that I can do!
