Maternity options - Whipps X, Royal London, Homerton, North Middlesex??

Just wondering if anyone has any recent experiences to share of maternity care at these hospitals?

I'm currently booked at Whipps X which has not been great so I'm 90% sure I will switch.

This is DC2 and I had DC1 at Homerton which was ok but that was 5 years ago now. Also wondering about Royal London and North Midds. Have had some experience of Royal London which has all been positive, I know less about North Midds.

Grateful for any thoughts!

I live closer to whipps but heard so many horror stories I'm having all my antenatal care at Royal London again, where I had my first child. No complaints

This is outing but I’ve had two at whipps in last 6 years, one emcs and one prem birth (8weeks scbu/royal London nicu). Whipps were brilliant both times, there were some not so nice moments but don’t think limited to whipps. Staff were incredible. Just wanted to give a positive view.

I've had one child at the Barkantine in the Isle of Dogs, which was absolutely brilliant. I'd highly recommend looking into if it's not on your radar. "Low risk" only, though.

My second was born at the MLU part of the Royal London due to complications. It was good too, caring midwives plus own room where partner could sleep on a pull-out chair thing. I think the Royal London has definitely improved, but the normal labour ward midwives were a bit more brusque for sure.

Thanks for all the opinions! So helpful to read.

@aleciahartismyhero thank you for sharing your experience of Whipps and I'm glad it was positive. I do know others locally who have had good experiences at Whipps recently too. Unfortunately there have been a couple of incidents during the pregnancy which have really shaken my trust, possibly they could have happened anywhere but I've made up my mind to switch now.

@moodlighting I love the idea of the Barkantine but unfortunately need to be on a labour ward as had a haemmorhage after my last birth.

Just to follow up, I've gone with Homerton in the end. Only had one appointment so far but it was good. Fingers crossed it was the right decision...

I had both my DC at whipps cross and they were wonderful. I've also heard good things about Hometon as well.
Good luck with pregnancy/ labour
