Hi, just wondering if anyone has been here and could answer a few questions?
Did the mosquitoes ruin your holiday?
Is it good for teenagers?
Were there many other English speakers when you went?
Do you know any other good camp sites that are good for teens?
How much roughly was it? Can't seem to get a quote.
Thinking of trying it for next year, thanks.

Is it actually on Lido? thats a really really nice place, very quiet cos all the tourists go into venice but so underated with brilliant restaurants and very much caters for kids (when I go there returants are full of whole kid fotball teams and stuff) and an inteeting history with art and the abandoned jewish graveyad.

Well it’s called Union lido, so I supposed so?
I’ve 2 teenagers and a primary child, but looking for somewhere that gives them plenty to do whilst DH and I can relax a bit.
Hard to find!

Prai delle tori, punta di sabbioni - both great. Loads of Germans, dutch, Italians, a few Irish and British. Hire bikes, brilliant pools with slides etc mini golf, table tennis, proper Tennis courts, beach on site. We stayed in a caravan with Eurocamp but would probably book with the site itself next time for their own accommodation, much nicer. Prai delle tori - you can cycle to a lovely nearby town on proper cycle paths, punta di sabbioni - can get a ferry literally right into Venice. Also both have great restaurants and ice cream parlours. We took 2 teens and a 10 year old and they loved it. Re mossies- very few bites - just cover up at night and use repellent!

Lido just means beach in Italian so make sure you are going to Lido di Venezia instead of Lido Di Jesolo or Lido Di Camaiore. They are quite different places! Grin

Thank you for tips.
I asked about mosquitoes as they seem to be particularly bad at Union Lido? people saying they ruined their holiday, were the worst ever etc. Really putting me off.
I do, of course, expect some bites on holiday, but not to the extent of the reviews on the website.
Will have a look at those suggestions, thank you.

It looks like it’s halfway between Punta sabbioni and Lido Di Jesolo. So it’s not on the actual Lido. I’ve stayed in Lido Di Jesolo and the mozzies were pretty fierce in early June. I’ve camped by Punta Sabbioni and I don’t remember many mozzies down that end.

If you end up in Lido di Camaiore you'll be grand, it's fabulous Grin It is Tuscany though so if you're flying to Venice you'll have a long drive Wink

Been there an yes, the mosquitoes are bad. They spray regularly, but the most aggressive ones seem to survive. DH was bitten to bits within and hour and we all had a fair few bites on us. Having said that, the facilities were amazing and the staff great. Not too many English speakers; most staff seemed to be better at German.

Sharptic · 08/10/2019 21:11

Yes I was eaten alive by mozzies there.
Ended up spending about €50 in the pharmacy trying to sort it out as I seemed to have a mild allergic reaction. Drove me to distraction!

The kids were fine, no bites and they really enjoyed it. They found it too hot in the day in May, they seemed to come back to life in the evening when it was cooler.

Sharptic · 08/10/2019 21:17

Sorry didn't answer all your questions.

Probably good for teenagers I'd say. A few sorting events, there was a colour run while we were there. Waterpark is brilliant. Mine were 12 and 9 so a bit younger. We walked along the beach most evenings, and tried a couple of bars. Went to the funfair and bounceworld on site, but they're aimed at younger ones really.

I contacted them directly on the website for a quote as it's really bloody complicated pricing for some reason. Think we paid just over £1000 for the tenda mv (large air conditioned glamping like tent) for a week.
I think I'd have chosen one of their camping homes instead though in retrospect. The tent was a bit stuffy in hot weather.

We didn't see many English speakers but that didn't bother me. We could get by with the staff around the campsite. There's some lovely fresh produce sold there.

We had a lovely time, spent a night in Venice too before getting the ferry over from there

EleanorLavish · 09/10/2019 20:05

Thanks!
Think the mozzies are putting me off.

We've booked for next year after Mumsnet reccs. My friend went last year and hasn't mentioned mozzies at all. I believe that whole coastline is known for mosquito bites, so I'm just planning to take decent spray with us.

Contact them directly for a quote, but I know for some key dates they're already fully sold out for next year. If it's that popular, I'd suggest that the mozzies can't be so bad as to be putting repeat customers off.

kathryn77 · 09/10/2019 21:38

Out of interest did people book direct or via Eurocamp Etc? I can’t get prices from the direct website.

ritzbiscuits · 12/10/2019 17:00

@kathryn77 we booked with Eurocamp as we wanted an 11 night stay. Union Lido direct are fixed one week stays so didn't fit for us with very expensive Saturday flights.

I did contact them and they do go on sale next week, 15th so check their site then. Bolero Holidays is another option but again we're fully booked for 2020 for our dates!
