Expectations for a cleaner....

I booked a cleaner for an 'end of tenancy' type clean today (not actually end of tenancy, it's us as owners moving out and getting it cleaned in advance of tenants moving in). We have 3 bedrooms, a family bathroom, a hall cupboard, a kitchen and a living room. It's a very small, ex-council property.

All the furniture and all the contents of every cupboard etc is gone and there was no serious dirt or grime around. For example, I'd recently wiped round the bathroom and hoovered the dust from when all the furniture was removed.

The job was to hoover or mop and wipe woodwork and surfaces in all the empty rooms, clean the bathroom, and clean the kitchen including wiping down the fridge and cupboards (again, not totally manky. Like the sort of wipe-down cleaning you'd do on a weekly basis, but without any food to remove and replace!).

I'm really interested in what length of time others would expect to be required for this. I know it's tricky to guestimate without seeing the property!

(In the interests of not drip feeding, I'd booked her for 4.5 hours, have come back, and she's saying she needs at least another hour and a half.)

Is she washing down walls and cleaning windows?

If not I’d say 4.5 hours would be plenty if there is no furniture.

No! No walls, no windows. Thanks, it's helpful to be reassured that I wasn't being totally outrageous.

I think she might have taken a wee break in the middle of the day!
