Any dentist or dental nurses able to answer this?

Basically my high functioning asd child can’t cope with wobbly teeth. Think meltdowns multiple times a day, reusing to eat, refusing to brush teeth and just generally a lot of distress that escalates as it becomes more and more wobbly.
If I asked would our dentist take out the wobbly tooth? This is now tooth number 5 and I’m at my wits ends.
They absolutely won’t let me touch it or pull it out them self but has said they’ll think about letting the dentist because they’ll have special tools. Just wondering if it’s even an option.

You could ask. If you explain the situation they may be willing to
Generally the tooth would be left because it’s better to come out naturally but it seems you have an exceptional circumstance

You have nothing to lose by having that discussion with the dentist To work out the best course of action going forward

How old is your child and how cooperative are they?

PinotAndPlaydough · 05/10/2019 21:08

They are 8 and not very cooperative! If they don’t want to do something it’s a struggle and I’ve always said when it comes to their body they can choose what happens to a certain degree. They are far note likely to cooperate with someone they consider an authority figure eg, teacher, dr, dentist than with me or other family members.

Depends how loose it is. If I could get it out with topical gel and fingers I might do it, so hanging on by a thread.
I wouldn’t be keen to give an injection and use forceps unless it was necessary.

I would say it’s now hanging on by a thread, the front of the tooth has completely come out it’s just the back section still attached.
