How does the giffgaff network work? Baffled.

I don't get it. I don't understand their forum either Blush.

Are the goody bags a monthly plan?

If DS goes over his data is my card charged the excess use fees or is it out of data until I pay for another goodybag? I can't see anything about parental controls.

Do I have to purchase a new goodybag every month? Or does it reset each month.

Thanks.

Hi op.

You buy a goody bag each month. You can change which one if you want to or you think it’s not enough. If he doesn’t have credit on it (that’s added separately) then he won’t be able to use his data past his allocated amount.

You can set your goody bag to recur every month if you’re happy with the one you’re buying.

Giffgaff is pretty much just the same as pay as you go.

Goody bags are bought with the intention of lasting a month. If you run out of data when it’s gone it’s gone.

You can buy them monthly or you can set it to recur which just means your charged for it monthly and the goody bag resets monthly without you having to remember.

Thanks okay 👍. That's helpful.
I don't want him going rogue with data, he'll have unlimited texts though.

I use giffgaff, the goodybag is a sort of monthly plan but there is no contract, you can stop it without penalty whenever you like. You can change which one you but each month depending on how much data/minutes you are going to use. It auto renews each month but they will text you to recommend which goodybag you should buy based on what you used the month before, if you want to swap to a cheaper or more expensive one.

Once you use up all your data or minutes, you can either buy your next goodybag early or you can pay as you go, you load up some money onto your account to cover that.

It sounds complicated but it's really easy to navigate, I'm not very technology savvy and I find it easy to use.

I am on giffgaff, I think it's a really easy way to run a phone. They will tell you which goodybag is best depending on your usage. They sometimes tell me to buy a cheaper one.

They really were brilliant, the only reason I left them in the end was they didn’t support WiFi calling and we moved somewhere with zero signal so I needed that feature. Otherwise I would have been with them for the foreseeable !

Ds gets pocket money into his bank account and his monthly recurring goodybag is paid from his account.

If he runs out of data he either waits until next month or brings next months goodybag forward, it doesn't let you continue to use data. If he wants to pay for a bigger goody bag out of his pocket money it is up to him. He gets a text to say when he's at 80% used. He can signon and see how much he had left.

As above but there's definitely parental controls that you can change. From memory they are automatically set to not allow adult content but you can change stuff through the app or by logging in online once you've set your account up. I've been with giffgaff years now and am really happy.

We use Giffgaff. The only disadvantage we have found is that the signal strength in rural areas is comparatively poor. I think that's down to the base network (which is O2, I think). If you live in a town it's absolutely fine and good value.
