Peppa Pig World, is it doable with no car?

I'm desperate to take DS to Peppa Pig world for his birthday but I have no car yet, when I thought I would Sad

I'm okay to brave it by train (just under 4 hours to get there), but it's the hotels. I'd like to stay overnight as the journey is so lengthy. But every bastard hotel says it's over an hour away at best via public transport, some even say 3+ hours! But then less than 30 mins by car...

Is it doable with no car? Or should I take him elsewhere? I just don't know where else I could go instead. He has very limited interests and Peppa is his number one in life so I really wanted to make him that happy.

There is a premier inn literally round the corner.

Are you goin to stay the night before and after? I wouldn't want a 4hr journey with an overtired child afterwards. How old are they?

Was going to stay the night before.

DS is usually brilliant on trains, we often travel 2/3 hours in one go to see family.

Never makes a peep. Happy and willing to stay put and doesn't usually get out, although he will be getting out for some food on this particular journey.

He's almost 2

We did it once with 6 children and no car, just for the day though.
However we have stayed overnight a few times and drove.
Some the hotels are a 10 minutes drive away ( one if the holiday Inns) that Pailtins offer. However, right bang outside Osultons park is a pub who offer rooms and really lovely food too. Really friendly land lady and rooms are not really expensive.
We got the train to Ower and then got a taxi to the park for ease after a long journey.
From the pub, outside the park, you’ll be able to just walk to the park.
Hope this helps.

I could not imagine doing that trip without 2 overnight stays. 4 hours on the train is a lot. It’s expensive to get in, particularly if he isn’t free, plus 2 nights hotel, plus 3 meals a day, plus train and taxi. You could probably go to Disneyland Paris for about that much once you add it all up! We live quite close to Peppa Pig World and it’s fine enough as a day trip if you have money to spend, but no way I could justify a long train trip and hotel stay. It’s just not all that great. I’d find somewhere local to you and save it for when you can do it as a day trip.

mindutopia · 05/10/2019 13:00

Also my youngest is almost 2 and he would be too small to go on much. I remember we took our eldest when she was 3 and there were still things she could just barely get on (they have to be a minimum height). My 2 year old definitely wouldn’t appreciate it.

sweetmotherog · 05/10/2019 13:24

It's only £30 to get in for us, he doesn't pay.

The hotel is £30 too. Breakfast included. The train ticket is 70 all in

If you’re up for it: train to Romsey (closest) or Southampton and then a taxi (you might need to pre book for a Romsey taxi). Stay at the Mortimer Arms hotel which is on the turning to the park, and you’ve got a ten minute walk to the park entrance. There are also buses from outside the Mortimer Arms but I have no idea how frequent, and there’s even a bus stop by the entrance but I’ve again, no idea.

I think you can do two day tickets for not much more than one day at the moment - so lunch time to lunchtime might work well.

FlowerTink · 05/10/2019 13:29

There's a Premier Inn just down the road from Paultons/Peppa. They do really lovely food there too, we are not too far away so drive there regularly and stop there on the way home to eat.

I took DD there when she was 2, in Peppa you'll be fine on the rides but you may struggle a bit in Paultons as there is a minimum height for some rides, my DD is quite tall so we didn't have too much of a problem but just for you to be aware :)

ConstanzaAndSalieri · 05/10/2019 13:30

Oh and I think apart from the George's dinosaur ride, all the PPW rides are suitable from tiny (I’ve taken newborns there many times). In the rest of the park there are more limited options for two year olds but still plenty to see and do.

MyDcAreMarvel · 05/10/2019 13:32

I really would stay both nights, you won’t be leaving the park till 5.30. It’s too much to travel four hours after a full day in a theme park.

LookImAHooman · 05/10/2019 13:57

I was going to mention the height thing. Peppa is better for it than other places, like CBeebies Land, but absolutely double check his height before you book anything.

LookImAHooman · 05/10/2019 13:58

I’d ideally stay both nights as well but if he’d nap in the pushchair, you’d get away with the journey afterwards. Though trains can be delayed.

SuperSange · 05/10/2019 15:25

I wouldn't take a two year old at all. PPW is only a small part of the park and he'll be too little. I'd wait a year. No point going if they can't go on the rides!

MyDcAreMarvel · 05/10/2019 15:47

Peppa Pig world is big , easily take a full day. And at age two they would be tall enough for rides it’s meant for little ones.

ADrabLittleCrab · 05/10/2019 16:08

I took ds there when he was 2, went with a little friend and we were there all day, never even looked at the rest of Paultons- it's great for littlies. Can't really help on the travel side as we're only 25 mins away but I can agree with PP that the pub hotel is literally right next door.

LuckyAmy1986 · 05/10/2019 16:56

We went by train last year, stayed in Southampton at a travelodge I think and caught a cab to the park

MakeUpGirl · 05/10/2019 18:25

We did this trip in August, train to Southampton, stayed in a travelodge and caught the bus to paultons park.
Bus stop is just a few minutes walk up the road from the hotel, takes about 40 minutes and stops right at the entrance. Only thing is I’m not sure whether it runs the same outside of school holidays.
We found it much better to stay in Southampton and to have decent places to eat on an evening
