Teen mags

Does anyone remember teen magazines back in 90s/2000s? I used to read Sugar and Bliss. Obviously with the internet not really a thing anymore but I got nostalgic thinking about it today and I can't seem to find an archive of them anywhere online (to see the covers etc.). Anyone else? I remember they always seemed to have terrible advice on how to get boys to notice you and things like that Grin

i started off with girl talk, then shout, then sugar and bliss, and then more when i was about 15 (and thought i was terribly grown up!) the highlight of my week was getting my pocket money so i could go and buy a magazine. and they always had rubbish free gifts 😂

I read Girl Talk too sunshine when younger then Mizz, then onto Sugar and Bliss. Sugar was my favourite. I remember the rubbish gifts; usually gross sticky lipgloss that smelt like strawberry or whatever from what I can recall.

I used to have a big pile under my bed, kinda wish I'd kept it as it would be hilarious to look at the fashion pages now.

I LOVED Sugar and Bliss. Particularly the problem pages. I still remember a letter from someone whose boyfriend had asked her for a blow job, so she “blew on him down there”, and wanted to know why this hadn’t been well received.

Omg yes - Girl Talk, then Shout, then Sugar, Bliss and J-17, followed by More - which shocked all us good girls with it's explicitness! :D (Position of the fortnight??)

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/10/2019 17:16

Yes! I loved Girl Talk, Mizz and Bliss. I read Smash Hits magazine too. I used to love the "cringe" pages where people wrote in their embarrassing moments!

I used to read Jackie, then J17 and occasionally Mizz.
There doesn't seem to be a good equivalent now

I still have such fondness in my heart for the Diary of a Crush serial story in J17 by Sarra Manning and the occasional free paper backs they sent out with bigger stories in them. Still have the paper backs saved in a big box of my teenage books in my dads garage.

Would love for her to write an up to date book about where Edie and Dylan are in their lives now.

I was just reading this thread thinking of 'diary of a crush' - used to love reading that it was brilliant. I didn't realise it was Sara manning who wrote it-will have to look our for her books now

Spongeface · 04/10/2019 17:43

You have them @Queen! Great! Remember those stories. I called Dylan die-lan in my head- I'd never heard the name. So exotic.
My pal found some recently and chucked them!

QueenofPain · 04/10/2019 19:27

Yes, there was some intoxicating imagery in those books, for me an arty teen. That college trip to Paris where Edie buys a vintage dress and some little hair clips, and wears glitter all up her cheekbones to snog Dylan in a club in Paris. I think that might have been the book where they finally DTD but i’m not sure.
