And can only have;

One film
One album
One book

For the rest of your life. What would you pick? And why?

Mine would be:

Film - The Shining, it’s flawless (this was the most difficult for me to pick)
Album - Oasis, What’s the story morning glory (it soothes my soul)
Book: as sad as it is, I would pick Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I read it once a year and as I grew up with the books, for me, it’s more than a story it’s the end of my childhood but in a very comforting way.

Ooh, off the top of my head:
Film: this is soooooo hard but it would have to be a john Hughes film.....il go for “pretty in pink” I’ve loved it to death since I was 12!
Album: Revolver - the beatles (mainly for “and your bird can sing” one of my fave songs of all time and also “here, there and everywhere” mine and dh’s first dance at our wedding)
Book: again so hard to choose but for the amount of times I’ve read it it would have to be “Jane eyre”. A lengthy tome too so would last a while!

Film: Bridge on the River Kwai- tragic yet uplifting
Album: REM Losing my Religion - reminds me of some of the most wonderful years of my life (if only I had realised it at the time!)
Book: Cold Comfort Farm - received it as a present for my 12th birthday, but still as funny, prescient and comforting a read 35 years on

Good choice for a thread, OP!

One film - Leave her to Heaven

One album - Tough one. Thought I would choose a Rolling Stones one but I’m going to go for Hotel California by The Eagles

One book - I have chosen something entertaining rather than high brow - The Switch by Patricia Welles

Film: best exotic marigold hotel. Love this film, its just so easy to watch.

Album: Fearless by Taylor Swift. I played this album in my works van until it wore out! I know all the words to all the songs and just love it.

Book: This was difficult but I've settled for The Island by Victoria Hislop. Id move to Crete based entirely on this book, its stunningly written.

ImTheBatman · 03/10/2019 21:24

Ooo I’m very happy to see Taylor on here!

And Goodfellas!! I didn’t even think of that @PrincessHoneysuckle, now I want to change mine!

Interesting thread! Although no doubt I'll lower the tone of it somewhat...!

Film: Dumb and Dumber. Have watched this a gazillion times already and never ever get bored of it.

Album: Keeping the Rave Alive by DJ Kutski. Pretty hardcore but again could listen to this until the cows come home and one of the tracks is on my funeral list if I die before the age of 40 Blush

Book would be dictionary. I love reading but have found since starting a new role at work I'm referring to a thesaurus more often. So I'd enjoy learning about new words and their meanings

Pinkarsedfly · 03/10/2019 21:38

Film - Rocky. I love everything about it.

Album - Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen. Because I love it, but also because it would remind me of my lovely DH.

Book - The Complete Works Of Shakespeare. It’s knotty, so it’ll take time to get through, there’s beauty, tragedy, life lessons, poetry, everything.

Sarahlou63 · 03/10/2019 21:41

Film : Castaway (the one with Oliver Reed rather than Tom Hanks)

Album : Dark Side of the Moon

Book : Robinson Crusoe

ImTheBatman · 03/10/2019 21:43

@sarahlou63 looking for some inspiration on your island there?

Film: very difficult decision but it has to be The Sound of Music I remember the excitement as a child when it was shown on tv

Album : a night at the opera, Queen

Book: Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte

Sarahlou63 · 03/10/2019 21:51

@ImTheBatman - more technical guides!!

LifeOfLimes · 03/10/2019 22:13

Film: Eat Pray Love

Album: Nirvana Nevermind

Book: Time travelers wife

Wizzbangpop · 03/10/2019 22:20

Movie love actually
Album California dreaming by mamas and the papas - there’s a song on the album for every mood
Book - this is probably cheating but a kindle full of Harry Potter and Jilly Coopers Rutshire books - guessing if there’s a power source for playing DVD’s and CDs there’s enough power to charge a kindle

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 03/10/2019 22:20

Film: Erin Brockovich, it’s not the best film in the world but it’s the first film my best friend & I ever saw, on our own, without parents.

Album: Heavy Horses, Jethro Tull. Some good memories involved with the track.

Book: Night Watch, Terry Pratchett. I love all his books but I think this is one of my favourites (& I have a signed copy)
