viral eye infection advice

this is a huge longshot, but has anyone ever suffered with a viral eye infection. I am a contact lens wearer and I have had a viral eye infection diagnosed about four weeks ago. I have avoided lens and eye makeup wear apart from a few times as i'm a dancer and I have had to do a few jobs. I have worn daily lenses as advised by me eye doctor, I have got on absolutely fine with them and my eyes are constantly improving. I just wondered if anyone had any tips for fighting an eye virus and how long they roughly last. i'm getting a bit fed up of glasses life now haha

What virus was it OP? Was it corneal or just conjunctival?

JustanotherDancer · 01/10/2019 09:33

I think corneal, as he said there was some abrasion so the virus must have got in through that

also he just said that he could tell it was viral, and I also developed a cold with it so I think just your standard virus

I had a cold virus in the eye but did not think it took 4 weeks top heal.

Did they ask you to go back and have it checked? If not, your opticians will be able to check for you. It may well have cleared by now (but obviously I can't tell over the internet!)

Dryness is a very common side-effect of a viral keratitis and that can last several months. There are many different types of dry eye drops, some that you can use with contacts and some you can't.

It's worth going back for a contact lens check up anyway. It's possible the abrasion was caused by your lenses not fitting properly or a solution allergy.

so I went back today and I've been given some steroid type drops, it hasn't got worse but kind of In the same state. He thinks it was potentially a virus I could have picked up in India as I was in and out of pools in lenses which I know isn't great, anyone got any knowlage on steroid drops?
