Child's buggy smells musty- help!!

Our out n about was put into the boot of the car recently while very wet and when I took it out a week later I noticed a very strong smell of must from it Sad I have washed the interior seat padding along with any other fabric that was removable so they are fine, and I gave it a good scrub and sprayed with dettol, and then with lemon juice. I've also sprinkled with bicarb and hoovered it off.

It's been sat beside a radiator in the house for the last week so it is totally dried out. I have been spritzing periodically with a weak lavender solution and the smell has dissipated a good bit, but if I put my nose close to the buggy, I can still smell it faintly. I guess it's coming from the canvas of the hoods, though I can't be sure.

How can I get rid of this smell???

I remember reading somewhere on tinternet that the way to get rid of damp smell is direct sunlight. Not that there's much round here at the moment!

Failing that maybe try borrowing a steam cleaner from somewhere that's how I used to clean my prom.

Interesting, I have a steam cleaner in the attic! Do you just give it a good hose with it? How long does it take to dry afterwards?

I did try direct sunlight too but only got an afternoon out of that before the rain started Hmm

Sorry when I said I used to I should have said DH used to clean itBlush

I'm sorry I don't know exactly how he did it, presumably similar to how you'd clean upholstery?
Prob best "do a patch test on an inconspicuous area" !!

I was told rub over damp areas with newspaper. No idea if it works on fabric of pushchair or just a tale. Does work on boots though

Worth a try, though the buggy is totally dried out now so no actual damp bits anymore.

I remember reading somewhere that vodka is a good deoderiser and I found a bottle in the cupboard. I don't drink and DH rarely does so it's probably been there a while 🙈 Anyhow, I spritzed the buggy all over with it last night and the smell has lifted a bit this morning so I've just given it another spray now. If it works it'll be an expensive solution 😂

Ok. 2 rounds of vodka have helped a little, but not a lot Hmm I feel like just blasting it with febreeze and seeing what happens.
