Probiotic drinks...

So I'm trying to keep my immune system stronger this year, after a few horrendous winters.
I've started taking a supermarket version of yakult... how long until they stop making me just run to the loo ? Is this normal Or do I just not 'get on' with them?!? Blush

They are a complete waste of money and have no health benefits. Eat a balanced diet.

I was also wondering this @NorthernSpirit but as they as quite cheap (Lidl) I thought I might as well try them - as well as eating healthy.

At the very least I was hoping for a kind of placebo effect, not this! GrinBlush

They are no good and tend to be full of sugar.
For healthy gut bacteria eat a good diet with lots of variety and loads of fruit and veg.
Kefir is good and kombucha and kimchi.

If you’re wanting probiotics you’re better off eating plain live yogurt and drinking fermented drinks (kombucha, kefir). I’ve never had an adverse reaction to those yogurt drinks though!

I have IBS and when I tried them it did the same thing. Because they have dairy in them. And dairy makes IBS worse.
I just try and eat better now. I do take probiotic if I'm on antibiotics because they make me really ill but I get the £20 a box, live cultures keep in the fridge stuff. They definitely work.

Thanks folks! Am working on my diet anyway but will add things to my list.

Think I'll just bin these drinks.

Three winters in a row I have been knocked sideways with my chest (asthmatic) so really want to be as healthy as possible this year.

Flu jab was given last week so that's ticked off the list.

You can get very cheap kefir in polish shops and the polish brands in many supermarkets. Kombucha is sold all over the place, my local sainsburys have it, and in health food shops. Live yoghurt is in all supermarkets, including yeo valley.

Think I'll just have live yoghurt and muesli for breakfast instead
