I received conflicting advice from the medical professionals regarding dressings, the receptionist at work took me to the first aid kit and got Sootheburn dressing out took me over to a paramedic and asked him to dress it for me. He started to open the package and another paramedic, had a look at my arm and told him not to dress it, and that it looked just slightly red and to put it under cold water for 20 minutes. Which I did.
Then when it blistered and burst, I saw another paramedic who asked why it hadn't been bandaged up! I explained and they bandaged it for me and told me to see a doctor if I suspect it was becoming infected.
I panicked when it bled and the skin started shedding so saw a doctor the next day, and she went to look for a burn dressing but they hadn't got any, so told me to ask the pharmacist and gave me a prescription for antibiotics in case of cellulitis and other nasties.
Pharmacist gave me the name of 2 burns dressings, one was something that started with gel and I asked for some, he then said, they had none in stock, so I asked where could I get them he replied. "oh any pharmacy" - this was in Lloyds pharmacy,
Anyway I have dressed it daily with a clean dressing, but it is the thought of a scar that is concerning me as its so visible, I will also need to ensure its out of the sun when I go to Tenerife in December, will sunblock be enough or should I keep it covered too. It suggests 3 years out of the sun which will be hard as its my hand and always exposed.
