Some men were taking pictures of my neighbours house!

Posted in aibu but then realised it’s not an aibu

A few men just came taking photos of next doors house and when questioned they said they were looking for their ‘kitten’. This seems normal however, after I’d checked in my garden’ they got in their car and sped off. They took pictures of ginnel, pathways and house

What do I do?

Other than telling your neighbour I don't think there's anything you can or need to do

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/09/2019 17:43

Talk to the neighbours?
They ought to know, if they do not already.

SillyBub · 29/09/2019 17:43

How many is a few? Definitely tell your neighbour and make sure your doors and windows are locked and nothing of value left out. They may have been casing the joint or a car.

Mylittlerainbow · 29/09/2019 17:45

Tell your neighbours and see what they want to do. It could be innocent but it could also be something more sinister like they are scouting out the house to burgle it. Why would they take pictures if they were looking for a cat. Sounds dodgy to me. I might be inclined to also call the police just to be safe.

Namechangewho · 29/09/2019 17:47

3 or 4, 2 taking photos and one or two in the car.

Sounds plausible. Come round in broad daylight, take pictures, chat to the neighbours then pop back later for a burglary. Hmm

People who are going to burgle spot and opportunity and take it. They don't fart around taking photos.

Namechangewho · 29/09/2019 17:56

Sounds quite plausible actually

Tell the neighbour and perhaps post it on Nextdoor or the Facebook page for your area.
It does sound dodgy.

Maseandmum · 29/09/2019 17:58

Talk to your neighbor

LazyFace · 29/09/2019 18:04

Definitely tell your neighbours... Nobody takes pictures when looking for a cat, they shout for cat rather than taking pictures. And it's not normal for so many people either.

OkayGo · 29/09/2019 18:05

Not applicable to most people but I have a stalker and I’d want my neighbour to tell me if anyone had been hanging around and taking pictures of my house!

Soola · 29/09/2019 18:20

Your neighbour hasn’t paid their tv licence so the TV Licensing Special Forces have been bought in.

Next time you see your neighbour I guarantee they won’t have any knee caps.

Soola · 29/09/2019 18:24

Brought 😩

OtraCosaMariposa

There was a flat bed truck with three very rough looking men that drove slowly my house and my neighbours' looking at the houses, bold as brass at about 8.30 am one morning last year. I saw them through the window as my neighbour went to challenge them. He received an earful of abuse and rude gestures. Later that day people of a similar description were caught in the back garden of a house a mile away. In the middle of the afternoon.

Such "people" do case the joint and check houses out in daytime. Photos may (or may not) be unusual, but it's ridiculous to suggest that burglaries are never targeted or planned.

Wheelson · 29/09/2019 19:16

There was a recent thread on here where someone massively overreacted to someone taking a picture of their house and horses. Turned out the culprit was the vicar's sister...

wowfudge · 30/09/2019 11:48

Let's face it, what looks more suspicious: a group of men who look like tradespeople/workmen looking at something during the day or creeping around in the dark wearing balaclavas?

PancakeAndKeith · 30/09/2019 20:38

Turned out the culprit was the vicar's sister...

What does being a vicar’s sister have to do with anything?

BlueLines · 30/09/2019 20:42

The vics sis Shock

JudgeRindersMinder · 30/09/2019 20:43

Maybe they were being sarcastic and instead of saying to mind your own business, they came up with the looking for the cat line? It’s something I may have done in younger, more twattish years

fridgegrazer · 30/09/2019 20:46

It makes you feel weird though doesn't it? About 18 months ago I noticed a couple of youngish blokes (20s or 30s I'd say) standing right in front of my house taking a photo. By the time I got out to ask why (politely) they were halfway up the road - pulling their hoods up. Nothing sinister has happened since then, I didn't see them photograph anyone else's house and there is absolutely nothing special about my house. I'm still puzzled about it now.

Wheelson · 30/09/2019 20:49

@PancakeAndKeith because she was apparently the sweetest, nicest, most gentle woman in the village and the OP got her arse handed to her. Wish I could find the thread!

Corneliusmurphy · 30/09/2019 20:53

fridgegrazer they may have been playing Pokemon go or my partner plays this game involving ‘snatching’ parcels - you can play with the camera
