Play Kitchens - Wood or Plastic

DD(3) loves her little kitchen so we're upgrading to a bigger version for Xmas - I want a lovely wooden one and she wants a plastic monstrosity that flashes.

If your toddlers have kitchens which do they loves most!? I want it to look nice as it will be 'displayed' in our dining/living room but equally I want her to use it!

We love our IKEA Duktig (I think that's what it's called).

Only problem with the IKEA one is there's nowhere to hide all the shit kitchen paraphernalia like he toast and the food etc- we've been looking for one with a big cupboard space Blush

Wooden! We have one from asda. Ikea ones are also great. I've even seen older wooden ones "done up".
Plastic looks awful and is bad for the environment.

Currently have this one. loads of storage and has lasted nealry 4 years and 2 kids. There is a 20% code on the websit at the moment but it regularly goes down to £60.

We have the IKEA one and it's ace. We seem to have lots of cupboard space for play food and crockery? Haven't got round to getting rid of it as children have grown out if it, as visiting younger children LOVE it. We got a 'boiling' kettle from Sainsbury's that mak s sounds & whistles. It's ace. Your DD is a lucky girl, getting an upgrade!

Wooden definitely. We have the pink kidkraft one from Costco.

The Ikea one has three cupboards. There's plenty of storage.

Wooden. It SO much nicer and won't put live us all.

If you need storage then why not a storage box?
We have kallax and one of the storage boxes is kitchen accessories and play food (also all wood.)

I bought what you’d probably call a plastic monstrosity for my then 2 year old because it had features I knew he’d love (sizzling pan sounds, audible microwave buttons etc). Almost 2 years later he and his now 1 year old brother still love it and it’s big enough for them to play with together. I chose one that went with our kitchen and isn’t garish colours - they’re out there if you look. But I strongly feel The point of a toy is to bring enjoyment to our children, not to “look nice” for us - we’re plastic all the way here I’m afraid as I find it so much more durable and cleanable! This is the one we have www.activitytoysdirect.com/step2-lifestyle-dream-kitchen-new-colours-p1664/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwrMHsBRCIARIsAFgSeI1TGJ7CrNO1h8b3snnCbQ-tS5Y_rx-LazBBg0WKlgupjEEO7L3MEKsaAlEeEALw_wcB

Im planning on getting the Ikea one for DS this year with a storage box underneath as its raised off the ground

IamMoana · 29/09/2019 20:27

Can highly recommend this wooden one, my daughter is still playing with it 3 years on and it doesn't look worn at all. It went down in price on a black Friday deal so maybe keep an eye out. Wooden Melissa & Doug accessories are also fab www.very.co.uk/little-tikes-premium-wood-home-and-kitchen/743717156.prd

My DD loves her ASDA wooden one and it looks nice/much better than a plastic one.

Catabogus · 29/09/2019 20:33

IKEA wooden one is great - it has plenty of storage space. Not plastic!

Jesse70 · 29/09/2019 20:36

We also have the little tikes one
Get a nice wooden kitchen then get her flashy accessories
My daughter loves her wooden one but she also loves the plastic one at her toddler groups
