London issue - I've made a mistake

We're going to marvel live tomorrow at the 02. Thought we would have dinner before we went in but obviously all the restaurants are booked at places we can eat or not stupid expensive.
We have the option of a proper lunch and sandwiches on the train which isn't very exciting.
Does anyone know of an alternative? We will be on the jubilee line and have a child in a wheelchair so are limited which stations we can use.
Thanks

We made the same schoolboy error recently. Ended up eating at the Five Guys at the O2. Maybe not everyone’s top choice but I do love their burgers.

Namechangedtoprotect · 27/09/2019 20:04

That's useful to know, I'll put that in the mix

Get off at London Bridge which has lifts and go for lunch around there? There are some good options around there - what kind of thing are you looking for?

Namechangedtoprotect · 27/09/2019 20:09

Something British or American I guess. Dh doesn't like pizza or pasta and one child isn't very adventuous. Harvester or byron at the 02 would have been perfect. Definitely a family friendly restaurant and not a bar!

thenewname · 27/09/2019 20:12

What line is the 02 at?

celtiethree · 27/09/2019 20:12

Canary Wharf might be a possibility - there are lots of food options in jubilee place which is accessible from the station ! I’m not sure about the lift situation

Teddybear45 · 27/09/2019 20:14

Canary Wharf - take the lift up to the main concourse. There are lots of pubs and restaurants just 5 mins from the station and you won’t have to pre-book on the weekend

milienhaus · 27/09/2019 20:16

How about Breakfast Club at either London Bridge or Canary Wharf? Otherwise I would imagine there’s be a Byron in Canary Wharf.

Lightsabre · 27/09/2019 20:17

Tube line is North Greenwich. You could get on a bus (all wheelchair accessible) to Greenwich - takes about 10 minutes. 129 or 188 - there are lots of choices there and it's a nice way to while away a couple of hours.

There is a pub near to the O2 called the Pilot Inn - a bit pricey but it's walkable and on a level path. There's also a Chinese restaurant, again walkable, at the Peninsula (can't remember its name).

Lightsabre · 27/09/2019 20:20

Greenwich has a Nando's, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Bills, Pizza Express, Noodle Bars, Fish and chips, Indian, Rivington Grill and loads of pub restaurants that are family friendly.

Cardboard33 · 27/09/2019 20:25

Canary Wharf has lifts and is very accessible - I go there lots with my baby to meet friends (also with babies) as there's lifts everywhere. There's a Byron about 5 mins (if that) from the Jubilee line. You won't need to book anywhere at the weekend so if you can't find Byron (it's a bit of a rabbit warren, I can't really describe to you where it is and I know where it is) then anywhere else you can find and like will be fine too.

If you get lost then go left into the shopping complex once you've gone past the ticket barriers then there's a bunch of restaurants near m&s on the upper floors. There's a GBK and several other chains.

Lightsabre · 27/09/2019 20:26

Or take a black taxi at the O2 to Greenwich 10 minutes and they usually have wheelchair ramps. There is a black taxi rank by the M n S in Greenwich for the return journey. About £12 each way of traffic is slow.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 27/09/2019 20:30

There are places to eat there - if memory serves - but it’s burger/hotdog type places - which are fine if you won’t want a posh sit down meal!

Have fun!

looondonn · 27/09/2019 20:31

Can I just add

Why are people eating at Bryon after the appalling things they did to get their staff deported
Worse chain ever
Plus their food is dire

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 27/09/2019 20:31

What did they do? I’ve only eaten there obese and the food wasn’t very nice.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 27/09/2019 20:31

Obese? Once!

Mskatonic · 27/09/2019 20:35

If you’re on the jubilee line go to green park (step free access) and walk down to Piccadilly Circus (about 10 mins) to brasserie Zedel, it has lift access and is stunning, great value and massive, you can try booking online now but they have some tables for walk ins if it won’t let you book. Can’t recommend it enough!

SnappedandFartedagain · 27/09/2019 20:36

OP if you download the Bookatable app, type in SE10 0DY and add the time you want, you will see a lot more availability including some availability for Harvester. Also it's worth phoning to see if they are holding back any tables.

TravellingSpoon · 27/09/2019 20:37

They called in 30+ staff to a meeting which was actually fake and immigration officers were there waiting for the staff.

Namechangedtoprotect · 27/09/2019 20:38

Thanks all, I will try calling harvester to see if I can book something over the phone. Lots of other options here as well.

OP posts:
AntiHop · 27/09/2019 20:39

There's a big shopping area right by canary wharf station. Loads of restaurants. The whole area is wheelchair accessible. All level changes have lifts or ramps.

sakura06 · 27/09/2019 20:40

Agree with PP that Canary Wharf is your best bet. On the Jubilee line; wheelchair accessible and tonnes of restaurants. There's couple of big shopping malls there with restaurants and Jubilee place has Wagamama, 5 Guys, Nando's etc.

onemouseplace · 27/09/2019 20:46

I’ve eaten at the Wagamama before at the O2 before a sold out concert without booking - had to queue, but it was fine.

Namechangedtoprotect · 28/09/2019 15:48

Success, I got in the harvester! Apparently they show as fully booked and just take walk ins so we got in :-)

That's great - I thought you would!
