I hate it when adverts do this! Why can't they just tell us how much we'll actually be paid?

WreckTangled · 26/09/2019 19:23

About £1000 a month starting. A bit more as they should (I think) factor in an annual leave allowance into your wages even though you can't take it.

sparklefarts · 26/09/2019 19:34

It's so annoying ! I was calculating 815 but I can't really remember how I did it lol

I make it just over £9k a year so £760 per month if paid over 12 months

Quoted wage divide by 52 multiply by 39 weeks, then divide by 40 hours multiply by 30 hours then divide by 12 months for monthly wage

Janek · 26/09/2019 19:35

I assumed four weeks' paid holiday and full time to be 37.5 hours per week and make it £1002 before tax if starting at the bottom of the scale.

Janek · 26/09/2019 19:36

I notice I gave you better terms and conditions than @happinessischocolate!

WreckTangled · 26/09/2019 19:38

Sorry missed that it was 30 hours a week and not full time. I make it £850 ish with holiday added on but I could be wrong 🙈

StarlingsInSummer · 26/09/2019 19:39

It depends how many hours full time is. If it’s 40 hours, then at the lower end of the range, you’d get about £760 a month, I make it. If it’s 37.5 hours full time, then it’s about £814.

That’s assuming they mean £16-£18k is the salary for full time, 52 weeks per year.

sparklefarts · 26/09/2019 19:43

Thank you all. I think you're working it out the same way I was. Now just to try find out what their full time hours are. I've seen 35, 37.5 and 40.
Would be nicer if it's 35 eh.

Thanks all

Bottom of pay scale is £9904 p.a.
Weekly pro rata £16287/5239=£12,225.

Then hourly £12,225/37
30=£9904 pa gross or £825 per month gross over 12 months.

autumndays2019 · 26/09/2019 19:44

Is it public sector? 37 is the standard NJC no of hours.

mindutopia · 26/09/2019 20:20

You would need to know what they consider full time. My full time hours are 36.5. 30 hours is probably roughly .80 FTE. But the actual pay would depend on whether they pay you only in the 39 weeks or it’s spread over 52, which end of the scale you’re at, and if you qualify for the allowance.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/09/2019 20:45

If you have to be at work for 39 weeks wouldn't you be entitled to some holiday pay for part of the unpaid weeks, so should be paid for about 44 weeks?

sparklefarts · 26/09/2019 20:56

Ah right I hadn't thought of the holiday pay. I may give them a call. But would that look bad for me? I wonder if they'd think I'm stupid

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 26/09/2019 21:43

The holiday pay would work out about 3.5 weeks worth assuming it was statutory amount. So that would be added into your wages meaning you'd get paid for 42.5 weeks spread over a 12 month period.

To be honest if you ring them they probably won't know my manager gets so confused with my wages it all gets left to payroll (although I don't work in a school where they might be more knowledgeable as it's the norm)
