Wedding table centerpieces

What did you have as your wedding table centerpieces?

We have 10 large round tables and I dont really know where to start! I was thinking of 3 little vintage style bud glasses with flowers. But I feel like it needs to be more than that! And how do I display the table name? I know log slices are very 'in' but I'm not too keen on them.

I know some people will come along and say nobody cares about your centerpieces blah bla blah- no need! I do know that but I want to make them look nice and i cant seem to make any decisions.

White enamel jugs with flowers in (bouquets went into water on top table) and some tea lights. Table names printed in nice font and in little silver holders from caterer. There will be tonnes of centrepiece stuff on eBay

i made my own got shiny red card cut into heart shapes about ten inches across widest part, attached oasis to the base, and filled with silk flowers cost about £4 each didnt have name cards let everyone sit where they wanted to as the food was buffet style hot and cold in a seperate room

I got my table names printed in silver foil from Etsy and put them in large silver antique frames.

For the tables 3 vases of flowers will work well, add tall candles and tealights also in odd numbers. If you are doing wedding favours put them in nice boxes that fit the rest of the theme.

Try and get the nicest, largest glassware going it really makes a difference to the look.

For table settings I think these are nice:

We had a load of old crystal decanters so we filled them with sparkly stones, and tiny lights, surrounded them with flowers and more out of the top, and stuck a table number in the top. Stood them on glass cake stands for a bit of height. We got the sparkles, lights, table numbers and flowers online, and I found the cake stands on ebay. They were fab, all different shapes and sizes, but did take a bit of work.

Made my own; I had white wire bird cages, decorated with faux white rose garlands sort of weaved throughout the wire. I put tealights inside (in glass candle holders, to make fire safe). The cages were sat on top of mirrored mats with glass gems strewn around the table.

It was classy (in my opinion), and relatively inexpensive. I think I was around £10 per cage (Amazon sell them in bulk btw), Maybe around £10 for the garlands which I cut up as required (purchased from craft shops), £7 or so per mirrored mat (amazon or craft shops), couple quid for the glass gems and candles. Probably cost me a couple hundred pounds all in and nearly 10 years later I still have my little bird cage candle holder in my living room and its pretty as ever.

I let guests take them home when they left the wedding, if they wanted to. I had no use for 10 bird cages! They were all snapped up.

We hired tall silver candelabra (tall enough that our guests could see underneath them, and across the table to talk to other people!), and had ivy and white flowers wrapped/draped around them. With tall candles lit in each, it looked really gorgeous :-)

Blobby10 · 26/09/2019 15:15

Whatever you decide on please make sure they are not tall enough to obstruct the sight/view of guests sitting across the table from one another. Went to one sit down reception and could only talk to people either side of me as the bloody centrepieces were huge! Didn't leave any space for glasses and food either!!

We didn’t have a table plan. The best centre pieces I ever cane across at a wedding were live herbs in terracotta pots. They served as centre pieces, place names (chalked in to pot), favours and an allergy-alternative to flowers.

VenusClapTrap · 26/09/2019 15:41

I had bird cages filled with roses and peonies on half the tables, and little bay trees decorated with roses and ribbons on the other half. All real.

Favours were mini terracotta pots containing little Bacopa plants that I’d grown from seed. The names were written on plant labels sticking out the side of the pots.

I had tall candelabra covered in flowers but they were expensive you can get them much more cheaply and hire the candelabra.
Also get large martini style glasses, they're about 3ft tall, put in coloured gel beads and water(or just dye in water in your colour scheme) and put some oasis on a tray ontop with some flowers. You may have a supplier nearby where you can buy flowers at a commercial price, or a supplier who delivers close by, you will need to look on line ), and candles on. They don't work out expensive and look very impressive.
