Evening primrose oil in liquid form

I want to try evening primrose oil for my DD as she has eczema but she won't swallow tablet of any size so absolutely no chance of me getting her to take a capsule.

Can someone please recommend a liquid supplement that she could take. Any I've found seem to be for application to the skin rather than ingesting.

Will she swallow what’s in the capsule? So you could cut one open and dribble it over cheese/sugar cube (no idea what it tastes like!)?
It’s what we do with our dog! (I’m obviously NOT comparing your DD to our dog! 😳)

Well sometimes she yaps like a dog Grin

Maybe I should try that, I just worry that is not her the full dose from emptying a capsule.

No problem.

Mum got me it for eczema. It worked and after taking it for about 6 months my hair seemed to be shinier and it stopped my period symptoms being so bad. I was 12 when I started taking it. I got awful pack pain when I was on my period. I appreciate your dd may be may younger and not thinking about that.

But I really recommend people give it a try. It does wonders. I always kick myself when I get out of the habit of taking it.

Mum then started giving it to her horse to make her coat shinier. Grin

Starflower oil has a higher concentration of the nutrients compared with primrose oil.

Rachelover60 · 25/09/2019 21:41

Either buy it in liquid form or open a capsule or two. I have used it for eczema and it is excellent.

Boots own brand is for 12 years and over. Odd flavour though - lemon and melon!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 27/09/2019 16:35

Thanks everyone I think I'll buy Starflower Oil capsules and open them to put on a spoon. She's only 9 so I'm hoping that even if a small bit is lost from opening the capsule she'll still get enough oil for it to have an effect.

Ah well, I was thinking (when we were talking about Evening Primrose oil) of applying it directly to the skin. That's what I did for eczema and it certainly worked.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 28/09/2019 13:09

@Rachelover60 as I understand, if she can ingest it then it will benefit more than just her skin so I think I might as well try and if she really hates it then I'll just use it on her skin - though I'd imagine you'd use a lot more that way. Hopefully it will be a success 🤞🏻

I suppose you could do both, it's not going to hurt her (certainly better than steroid cream). It is remarkable how quickly skin problems clear up with it. Hope that is the case for your daughter.
