The best Centreparcs

Planning to book a break to Centreparcs soon. We live nearest to Sherwood but are meeting family from different areas of the country so happy to travel to whichever is considered the best. TIA

Do you need it to be flat? If so, avoid Longleat. It is super hilly, much as I love the rest of it.

Thanks @WellTidy no wouldn't say we need it to be flat although we do have a couple toddlers coming so good to know.

Personally we like Elveden as it's flat and compact but established

Look no further, Sherwood is the best!

They do have a land train at Longleat as it's a big site and hilly. I preferred Longleat to Sherwood Forest, but we do just tend to go to the swimming pool when we're at Center Parcs, so their other facilities may vary.
Great opportunity to visit Longleat whilst you're there, although we won't make the mistake of driving through the monkey enclosure again!

I think Woburn is best for small children. It’s much smaller then the other parks. More contained. So less need to walk/cycle between places (yes it’s nice to walk, but not so much with tired toddlers, wet swim gear, when it’s raining). It’s all very modern and fresh.

Longleat is very big. Lots to do, but very hilly.

Sherwood is lovely. The pool was very dated when we went at Christmas (the toddler areas were dire), but they were doing up, but I would check before booking.

Longleat is our favourite - yes it is hilly, but you can book preferred areas - we always go for near the Plaza - swimming pool, restaurants, supermarket etc. There is so much wildlife, and it really seems spread out with plenty of room for everyone.

Sherwood toddler area in swimming is brand new and was amazing when we went in June.

I've been to longleat, elvedon and Sherwood. Longleat is my favourite. We tend to go to elvedon though as it's only 45 mins away.

janj2301 · 25/09/2019 17:34

Been to them all, far prefer Elveden
Sherwood a little old and tatty. Woburn too small. Longleat too hilly BUT we did go there with an older person with mobility issues.

Have done Sherwood and Woburn.
In my opinion:
Sherwood- had more of that house in the forest vibe, felt like your lodge was the only one, and more bird hides/nature areas, everything bigger and more spread out, more play places both out and inside. Swimming pool has been redone since we were there- is supposed to be amazing now, temp was often quite cold during building but don't think it is now But some areas definitely tatty, lots of queuing in car Park or for a cubicle at pool, eating out had to be booked in advance and long waits for ones you couldn't book
Woburn- smaller and easier to get round, everything new and shiny, seemed more room in car Park and at swimming pool, could walk into restaraunts and get table. Didn't feel the whole back to nature/on my own in the woods vibe though, lodges just in clusters.

Sherwood with Whinfell a close second.

JLo1979 · 25/09/2019 18:48

Been to both whinfell and Woburn. Loved both to be honest. Lots of lovely red squirrels in whinfell and beautiful walk. Less so in Woburn but still lovely. Going to longford in January. Can't wait but then we live in Ireland so will be nice not to have to travel too far. 😄
