Is there any reason not to get pneumonia vaccine?

So I understand the cost / benefit for under 65s doesn't warrant having pneumonia vaccine on NHS for general population (except high risk) but if I buy privately is there any reason not to get the pneumonia vaccine? (Disclaimer - I love a vaccine, I've had my flu shot already this year even though it makes my arm hurt it sucks a lot less than flu).

I have been having this injection since 1994, with a booster required every 3 years now, used to be 5. Non Hodgkins lymphoma didn't like me spleen, requiring it to be removed. So the advice is the injection and boosters every 3 years. as others have said in can make you feel rough for a day or so afterwards and have a sore arm for about a week.

@falcon5 ask your local independent pharmacy how much the pneumonia jab is from them, mine did it for me for the trade price of £9 since I was paying for the flu vaccine at the same time. Was a no brainer for me at that price.

That's good to know @bobstersmum I'll have a check of a different place

I thought I read a few people died of it. An American actor anyway. I get the flu jab but don't think I will get the pneumonia one thanks.

I would LOVE to see a reputable source for that... 😑. Some fairly intensive googling has brought up... nothing.

After some intense googling I have found what you may have seen.... a 2018 report in the Daily Mail that the original American actor in the incredible hulk had a shoulder injury from having the injection to high up into shoulder.
