Potty training help

Hi, i started potty training my son this summer holiday and was really surprised how well he took to it. We stayed at home a lot especially for the first week and he had nothing on the bottom half and would sit himself on the potty when he needed to wee. By the second half of the summer holidays he started pooing on the potty really confidently and giving me warning when he needed to go. He's now back at nursery 2 mornings a week (I didn't put him in over the summer so we could purposely stay at home and do potty training) but there apparently he won't use the potty at all. One lady that works there said he's 100% not ready as he wont go and doesnt care if hes wet and another lady said she asks if he needs to go and he point blank refuses.
He will wet himself what ever he wears on the bottom half even if hes wearing actual pants so thats why i stuck with the pull ups and I think the reason he'd been staying dry is because I'd been trying him on the potty frequently enough. I just cant believe im being told he's not ready? Am I pushing him to do it? He is now 3 years old if that makes any difference. Surely I can't give up now as he won't poo himself and wants to do all his poos on the potty? It's just wees he doesn't care about. Any helpful advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Doesnt sound like he is close to being trained to be honest. If you started 8+ weeks ago (start of the summer hols) he should be able to hold it and tell you when he needs to go, not wet himself if you don't sit him on the potty every 30 minutes. How frequently do you take him to the potty at home?

He could stay in pull ups but continue to do poos in the potty/toilet as he is able to tell you when he needs one.

Wee accidents are actually more of a pain at nursery than poos, I would think. Requires the whole outfit to be changed, carpet/chair/nearby toys have to be cleaned. Whereas a poo is usually contained and you just chuck the dirty pants away.

I don't have any set times but I found he goes more frequently in the morning. I try him every hour or so. He's mostly dry. I thought he seemed ready only because in the summer holidays I had the potty around so he got used to it and he'd go and use it. If hes not ready fair enough but I'm not sure what to do as he will only poo on the potty now. He doesn't and won't poo himself ever now, he always uses the potty flr poos. I thought we were half way there

Yeah I think I will keep using pull ups on him and he can use the potty for poos
