Would you hand in your notice if...?

You hated your job 😂

You had been there 3 months but still felt as though you knew nothing and there was no prospect of change in sight.

You hated your job.

You had enough savings to live on while finding a new job.

You worked in a stressy, bitchy team which didn't communicate and had a culture of backstabbing and blame.

You hated your job.

Would you? I badly want to hand in my notice today but it's the start of an even more stressful and busy period and it might tip my manager over the edge.

Yes. Life is too short. Find something else and don't look back. You'll massively regret the time you wasted there. Good luck Thanks

Doyoumind · 23/09/2019 13:35

If you're confident you'll get a new job just do it.

HeadintheiClouds · 23/09/2019 13:35

Why are you worried about your manager when they manage a bitchy, backstabbing team? Go. Life is too short.

HollowTalk · 23/09/2019 13:39

Definitely. I'd tell her why I was leaving too - I wouldn't say I hated my job but I'd definitely tell her about the stressy, bitchy team which didn't communicate and had a culture of backstabbing and blame.

In fact you'd be mad to stay there if you have some savings.

TheSweatyPregnancy · 23/09/2019 13:39

You sound like you work for my employer HmmGrin

I wouldn’t hand in my notice, I would stick it out and look for jobs at the same time. Employers can be put off by gaps in employment history.

If your mental health can take it, stay and start applying for something less horrid!

RainOrSun · 23/09/2019 13:40

I'm not sure if I'd hand my notice in, but I'd certainly be job hunting.
Hope you get sorted soon.

MostIneptThatEverStepped · 23/09/2019 13:53

Thanks so much!

I was wondering about having a gap on my CV...is there a good way to explain it away? Travelling?

OP posts:
Elphame · 23/09/2019 14:12

Yes - and I have

timshelthechoice · 23/09/2019 14:13

I'd find another job first.

BearSoFair · 23/09/2019 14:21

I'd try to find something else first, if you can bear to stick it out for a little longer. I'm at the end of my tether with my job after 4 years there so I completely sympathise OP. I want/need to be out of there before the Christmas rush either with or without a new position though!

Soola · 23/09/2019 14:22

I wouldn’t jump ship until you have another job lined up says the cautious, sensible me.

However, if the conditions are so bad that it’s having a detrimental effect on your well being and you are confident your financial situation will be ok, the leave.

thesnapandfartisinfallible · 23/09/2019 15:16

Yes. I stuck it out 6 months and I wish I'd told them to shove it after 2 weeks.

motorcyclenumptiness · 23/09/2019 15:23

I'd be very cautious about leaving a job without a new one to go to, it's a tough market. Get applying for something else now!
