Local anaesthetic at dentist - is this normal?

Just got home from dentist, I had numbing gel on my gums and 8 injections of anaesthetic into my cheek (hurt like fuck but necessary). I now feel like I've inhaled anaesthetic. The inside of my nasal passages is numb, behind my eyes is numb, my face from just below eyes is numb. Is this normal? I'm obviously glad not to be in pain but was I given too much?

take painkiller before it wears off if you can much better than waiting til it all wears off and you are very sore or in pain

I took cocodamol as soon as I got home and could drink water again! Glad I pre empted it 🙂

The last time I had dental anaesthetic I went all funny, could feel my heart and head pounding. I felt like I was going to explode! Very strange but only lasted a minute then I was OK again.

It may have contained some adrenaline as well which helps to reduce bleeding.

Oh I didn't know the adrenaline was to stop bleeding. Makes sense. I had really bad shakes all over afterwards which could have been a reaction to adrenaline.

The adrenaline is to make it take effect quicker too.

I had racing heart and extreme jitteriness after dental anaesthetics, so now have an adrenaline-free injection.
