What do people do at weekends?!

This makes me sound ridiculous but DH & I are both mid & late thirties, no kids, reasonable income and hardly ever have anything to do at the weekend.

We normally just stay at home or in the garden, sometimes go for a wander to the local pub but I don't want to do that all the time. All our friends have young kids so they're always doing stuff with them, occasionally we'll join them but to be honest as we don't have kids fetes and fairs and things aren't really our thing.

I feel like we're wasting so much of our lives just staying at home but am a bit lost for ideas...?

If I didn’t have children I would spend the entire weekend walking the coast path, exploring the moors, sea swimming, making incredible things in the kitchen, painting the house, tending the garden, writing and reading. With or without DH.

@puffyeyedsugarmonster what do you both enjoy? What do you hate? I think I’d want to finally get past grade 2 piano and be a contestant on Pointless. I would like to experience an adults only weekend at Butlins as it sounds ghastly but people love it and maybe do one of those really long zip wires off a welsh mountain

Today we watched a bit of Netflix, went out on our bikes, napped, had a BBQ and did food shopping and ironing.
Tomorrow we’re going out for lunch, DH has some work to do, and I’ll do some gardening if the weather is fit, embroidery and audiobook if not.
This is fairly typical for us, mid forties, no DC.

Running, football, cleaning, walking. Nothing really WOW!

Parkrun is a great way to get out and meet the local community wherever you happen to be.

You can walk/jog/run it at your pace and the volunteers & runners will encourage you every step of the way.

It can get reallllllllly addictive though. There are hundreds of different ones and they take your time after each run and keep a record of your progress

Also in my 30s with no kids. I usually:

-Go for long runs or cycle rides, sometimes with friends
-Go hiking in the Lake District which isn't that far away
-Read
-Drink lots of tea in my pyjamas
-Go away to new places with DP (last weekend we went to Newcastle for the weekend, checked out some museums, went for dinner, did some xmas shopping)
-See my sister and my nieces

I don’t know what’s wrong with people sometimes, talking about “have children” or “try making children” or “people who get up early with dc would be green with envy” so bloody insensitive when you don’t know the ins and outs!!

How about getting a bowl and both of you writing ideas of something you’d like to try or do, and once a fortnight or so (depending on finances) you take it in turns to pick an idea out?

I’m 50 and have grown up DC and DC away at uni for half the year. My DH and I like to go for walks, either National Trust or costal walks. We go to the cinema a few times a month either afternoon or evening. My DH loves food shopping so he or we normally go Saturday morning. About once a month we go out with friends for dinner. We normally have a lunch out once a weekend, often when we are on a walk.
We’d like more or different stuff to do.
