Ok, I'm no Prue Leith but I know there's some baking experts here on MN...

I'm about to start making a cake for DS's birthday tomorrow. He's requested a particular character so I need to make a square cake.

Only have round cake tins. But I have just found a perfect sized square Pyrex dish...

Is there any earthly reason why I shouldn't use this? I'll line it with baking parchment...

(I have no idea if this a dumb question or just my head thinking it's a bit weird. Like drinking Cup-a-Soup from a bowl would work but is, well, a bit weird....) Grin

I agree with pp Pyrex is to use, I used a bowl for the top of a stormtrooper's head once! This is the creeper cake I did last month using disposable (don't flame me, I re-use them), wilko foil trays. Twas easy to do, just time consuming - 2.5 hours to measure, cut and place the 300 squares of icing. If I EVER see green icing again...

I agree @Icantfindanewname ...I've done a rainbow cake with disposable foil trays (and washed and kept them for another time) That is a great cake! I don't like/use fondant.

Hope the cake/party is a success @theluckiest
