Restaurant menu calories

Is there such a thing as an app that calculates the calories in restaurant menu meals. I am on a diet and don't want to be anti social so going to a Smith and Western with family today. I have looked at the menu and cant work out the calories, I tried googling but nothing came up, just wondered if there was such an app, alternatively does anyone know if the chilli and rice meal would be lower than the Cajun chicken with coleslaw meal? I am trying for under 500 calories.

It might be on myfitnesspal. Let me have a check

Sorry can’t see it. It’s probably best to add up approximately. 1 chicken breast, medium jacket potato, salad etc. It won’t be exact but it’ll be near enough.

Most restuarant mains (and a lot of starters) are between 1,000 - 2000 calories each. Even so called healthy options like salads. If you want to limit calories it’s probably better to order what you want for that meal but manage your calories better the rest of the day - for example when I go out for a meal in the evening I will eat less for breakfast / lunch (perhaps 200 cals for each meal) and not have coffee / snacks.

As @teddybear45 said. Most restaurant mains have loads of calories.

I travel regularly for work and will usually explain that I need to watch what I eat. I’ll usually ask for grilled chicken and salad with mayo on the side.

Appreciate it might be hard to use the ‘i have to eat out but need to watch what I eat’ line when with your family.

Looking at the menu, you probably don't want to know how many calories there are, somewhere that sells 'hearty American style food' is never going to be diet friendly, but as a one off it really doesn't matter.

I would go, have what I wanted, don't over order, and stop eating when full and take the leftovers home or just let them get thrown away. After all, they're no less wasted in the bin then they are with you eating them when you don't want to.
