9 month old routine

I’m back to work soon so have recently stopped breastfeeding, trying to work out a decent feeding routine that might give me some chance of sleeping through the night.

At the moment my 9 month old should wake around 6.30, but if she wakes after 5 for a feed (still breastfeeding overnight) then she often doesn’t go back down and is grumpy all morning.

Breakfast about 7.45, half a weetabix with cows milk.

7oz bottle about 10am

12 o’clock lunch - she won’t eat bread so it’s usually a few crackers, some cheese and some grapes

2pm 7oz bottle

5pm dinner - whatever the rest of us are having, plus usually a yoghurt or fruit for pudding

7pm 7oz bottle and bed.

Is she eating enough? She’s currently waking twice a night for a small feed, she used to only wake once. I’ve also got a toddler who doesn’t sleep very well, I’m exhausted and starting a new job soon, it’s making me very stressed.

What does everyone else’s babies of the same age do?

My baby is 10 months old and I'm interested to read others replies as I'm not sure we have the right routine either but it's as follows:

4.30am wake (for some reason they think it's morning and get up at this time!)

5am 8oz bottle

6am nap

8am 8oz bottle and breakfast (usually a mixture of purée and finger foods eg toast soldiers and puréed fruits.

10am nap

12pm 8oz bottle and dinner. Eg puréed veg with cheese and some finger foods such as fruits or vegetable chips.

2pm nap

4pm tea which is usually an Ella's kitchen pouch and mashed fish fingers or pasta for eg. Followed by yoghurt and a rusk.

5.30pm 9oz bottle

6pm bath

6.30pm bed

I'm not sure if bedtime is too early but when we've tried a later bedtime the wake up time is still 4.30 so it doesn't seem to make a difference!

Thanks for your reply - interesting that yours is still having 4 bottles, that makes me feel better, I thought mine was having too much milk. She’s my 3rd but it’s like I’ve forgotten what to do 🤦‍♀️

As the parent of two chronic early risers I can help with your 4.30 wake up though lol. Your first nap is too early, it’s like an extension of nighttime sleep for her. If she’s going to be ready to get up between 5.30-6. Start making the first nap 15 minutes later every couple of days until it gets to about 8am. So tomorrow morning try not letting her go to sleep until 6.15, then a couple of days later to 6.30 etc. That should move wake up back :)

Thank you I will try that! I would be happy if we could move the wake up time back to around 6am, it would feel like a lie in compared to 4.30!

Yes still on 4 bottles. He doesn't always drink it all but I always offer 4 bottles usually before mealtime. According to HV they will naturally start taking less milk when they are ready so no need for us to reduce it for them- it's still the main source of nutrients until 12months.

Oh and your initial question of whether she is eating enough, I think if she is gaining weight steadily then yes :)
