At very short notice I'm going along this weekend specifically to see an exhibitor in the arts & crafts marquee but wondered genera,,y if anyone had been and what they thought?

Is it a family style event or plenty to see for a person by themselves on a day out?

Is it heaving?

I used to go every year, though haven't been for a few now. There is loads to see, and it can be heaving (Sat morning is quieter, so get there first thing). The weathers been good this week, so it shouldn't be too muddy but you'll want sturdy shoes.

I will get there about an hour after opening time on the Saturday (just before 9am).

I am going specifically to see an exhibitor and commission some items rather than ordering blind online or making a private appointment to their studio.

But then wondered about the show more generally.

Had assumed it was arts and crafts but there seem to be horses, livestock, tractors etc - plus a food tent and wedding flowers marquee!

But pictures on website look horrifically heaving.

From that perspective, it certainly used to be a proper agricultural show and was particularly strong on the horse classes. My family showed goats there

We go every year. The food marquee is lovely with lots of free samples of cheeses, fudge, ciders, jams etc. There is also a smaller food tent elsewhere. There is an outdoor show ring which usually has falconry and various other things to watch at set times. Stalls such as Joules with decent reductions. You can easily spend most of a day there. I would say the only place it's a bit too busy at times is the free samples in the food tent you may have to wait a few moments.

Thank you - it sounds amazing. Will definitely visit more than one exhibitor

Thank,you,all,- I went early on Saturday and commissioned the items I wanted made while nice and quiet.

But later on it was hot and heaving.

Queues for food at 12.20pm v long.

Spent time in the Crafts Marquee and generally wandering around.

Food marquee too hot and humid and full of pushy people so gave up on it and went to the odd food stall not in the Food Marquee.

Am not a dog person but goodness there were so many handsome dogs - well-behaved - with visitors to the show. Like super models of the dog world.

An amazing day out.

Got to hold a ferret, stroke a donkey and watch apple juice being made. (My inner 6 year old).

Also bought some lovely summer dresses and cheese
