Fridge disposal

Confuseddotcotton · 19/09/2019 07:11

Some twat dumped a fridge and oven in my front garden last night.

The oven I can get my local scrap metal man to pick up.

He doesn’t do fridges though..

Any recommendations for fridge disposal? I would rather not have to pay to dispose of a fridge that’s not mine!

Try the council?

purplepoop · 19/09/2019 07:14

Call the council and report it as fly tipping

Ginfordinner · 19/09/2019 07:15

Council, but you will have to pay unfortunately.

What kind of low life does that?

Report as fly tipping- why should you incur costs ?

redchocolatebutton · 19/09/2019 07:18

as it's on private land it's the land owner's responsibility now to dispose off.
yes to council. either you take it to the recycling centre (might be free) or you ask them to pick it up for a fee.
best to get rid promptly or people will add to the junk.
and keep your front garden tidy, that usually deters bastards like that.

Confuseddotcotton · 19/09/2019 07:24

I looked up my council policy, as it’s on my land, not public footpath they won’t collect for free.

I could just move fridge to the pavement but it will then block the path to the school down the road, lots of prams etc.

I’ll pay them to take it, just annoying that I have to.

Where I’m from Liverpool we have a service called Bulky Bob ran by Liverpool City council. I don’t know if your council do one. The pro is Its free and they take up to 5 items. The con is you may have to wait a few weeks. You can always google waste collection but You’ll have to pay and it’s hardly fair that you’re out of pocket because some prick decided to blatantly use your garden as a rubbish tip.Angry

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/09/2019 09:38

Oh sorry op. I didn’t read your update. It’s maddening, is it.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 19/09/2019 11:11

Of course you move it onto the public pathway! Honestly the idea that you could pay maddens me- if you have money to give away I’ll take some!

BarbedBloom · 19/09/2019 11:13

I would put on public path and report fly tipping. No way would I pay for the council to take it

VeniVidiWeeWee · 19/09/2019 12:47

If the OP puts it onto the public path they would be fly-tipping and liable to prosecution.

Possibly not the best suggestion.

Confuseddotcotton · 19/09/2019 13:08

I’ve rung the council and because it’s on private land they don’t want to know.
I won’t move it on to the pavement as it will block the path to the school, and then I would be the fly tipper..
I have arranged for someone to collect, £20 so not too bad.
Very annoying though. I wonder why they picked my garden. They had to hoof it over a fence, next door had open driveway so would have been much easier!

If the council won’t take it they’re encouraging fly tipping.
Oh and £20 might not be a lot but it’s not a little either. Some people don’t have that a week to spend on groceries
