Has anyone been that can offer advice? It's for a weekend and we are celebrating a friend's 50th whilst there. Want to see lovely Christmas Markets, visit lovely restaraunts and possibly one or two tourist attractions.

Help!

Is it worth buying a pass for the weekend? Can they be used on other modes of transport?

You could do, I think that most of the places are walkable but it depends how much walking you are used to.You can buy 24/48/72 hour pass that includes airport transport. The passes are valid on buses, trams, underground (U bahn) and some trains in the city.

Sorry to jump onto the thread but where do you see the Lipizzaners Japanese? Do you need to book in advance?

plunkplunkfizz · 21/09/2019 09:57

Book in advance for performances. I booked one yesterday for December and it was almost full. No need to book in advance for tours. If one is full you just get the next (though obviously book if you are keen for a specific time).

Sorry, horse performances I mean.

WelshMoth · 21/09/2019 10:02

Jump in! Good question!

I'm intrigued by the thought of seeing the horses train whilst on our own horse drawn carriage. Any advice?

...and what would you see in a tour and how do I arrange that? X

The horses train in an enclosed facility. You have to pay to enter. You can’t just jump on a fiacre, drive past and see them.

Have you considered doing a quick Google search of the Spanish Riding School? That might answer your questions in a rather less piecemeal fashion and let you understand exactly what is available.

Lugeck has amazing food.
Ah I miss it so much, I went for 2 months and would move back if I could afford it!

JapaneseBirdPainting · 21/09/2019 13:23

Yes, the Spanish riding school is pretty central. As I recall you could just go in and book either for a performance or for the training.

Love Vienna so much. Feeling very nostalgic. I have never been in the summer, but would love to go and go to the Prater.

Thank you plunk and Japanese. I hadn’t even thought of seeing them when we booked to go later in the year but now I’m off to google. It was always childhood dream!

Oh and thanks WelshMoth for starting a great thread! Smile
