Anyone any ideas?

My dad died when I was 10 and his family apart from 5 people all got colon/bowel cancer at or around 38 years old. I'm waiting for results to see If I have also lynch syndrome. I'm so scared and shitting it :( will I get counselling before or after the results?

I was tested for it about 8 years ago. Before they even scheduled the test I had to go in for counselling twice and they also offered counselling afterwards. This was done at St Mary's Hospital in Manchester. I was fortunate that I tested negative.

If you are diagnosed with it they will make sure you get regular screening for cancers connected with Lynch Syndrome. My niece tested positive and she will be having a hysterectomy when she turns 35 because uterine cancer is associated with Lynch Syndrome.

Best wishes for negative results!

That's very sad about your Dad and his family. I hadn't heard of lynch syndrome. I hope everything goes well. 💐

Try to remember that if your results come back positive you will be continuously screened. So better to know than not know. My dad is 74, had colon cancer at 51, a rare sarcoma on his leg, skin cancer on many parts of his body, has smoked since he was a teenager and he's still here. It's not a death sentence, although I can imagine it feels like one. Please share your results when you hear. Did they tell you how long it would take to get your results?
