Help! UK holiday?

Elllicam · 15/09/2019 16:55

Could anyone suggest any places for a good UK based holiday, about 4 nights in the October week? There are 6 of us, I like nice scenery and historic places, my DH likes rest and wine and the kids (6, 5, 2, 9 months) like parks, swimming, theme parks, forests, beaches. We are based in Scotland but can travel to some parts of England/Wales but would be pushing it to get to the south of either. Any help would be really appreciated, we keep going to Centre Parcs/Crieff hydro. It would be lovely to try somewhere new.

Northumberland is lovely. Even its its cold and wet you just get wrapped up and centre out.

Have a look at Argyll holidays, Lochgoilhead is stunning and quite close to Loch Lomond. They have cabins or caravans in different parks, I've stayed at drimsymie (spelling?) views alone are worth the visit!

A friend of mine has a gorgeous holiday let cottage in Ayrshire. Close to the Burns stuff and Culzean.

North Wales. Castles galore and beautiful scenery and seaside.

Where in scotland are you? We visit the south west coast regularly and have a membership for historic Scotland, there's loads to visit in the area.

We live in the north east of England and again loads to do in our area. We have beamish museum which is brilliant.

We are near to Glasgow, Ayrshire and Culzean are lovely but we go there a lot. North wales and northumberland sound good, any recommendations for areas/accommodation/holiday parks?

Alnwick is nice Haggerston Castle is a big Haven site on the Northumberland coast has a nice pool etc but can be very busy and loud depending on time of year. Bit classier are the lodges at keilder reservoir... Slaley hall which is a big golf hotel have self catering lodges but I haven't stayed in them x

Actually this one in Northumberland might be a better option as it's closer to you

Come to North Yorkshire, loads to do for a short break even if the weather isn't great.

You have Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington for the coast. York is a great city with plenty to do. North York Moors Railway, Dalby Forest.

Look at Griffon Forest for lodges or plenty of other options with Hoseasons.

RomaineCalm · 15/09/2019 22:25

Forgot to say that you also have Flamingo Land and Lightwater Valley for theme parks.

Elllicam · 16/09/2019 07:49

I think I’ve narrowed it down to North Yorkshire :) @RomaineCalm thank you.
