What is going on with my upper arms???

I'm only mid-40's and am slim, always been naturally fairly toned (with a frantic exercise program before a beach holiday).

Obviously, am ageing, thighs are wobblier, tummy bit flabby but my upper arms look awful - like overnight.

I'm going to do toning exercises but the skin is saggy and wobbly / looks much older than I am, I don't like it and feel so self conscious about it.

I'm very pale - so that doesn't help.

What can I do that will really work and recoup any of my youth (please tell me it's not over?)

Swimming and lifting weights help (not at the same time, that could go very wrong very quickly)

Tricep dips really help and will make a difference quickly. Have a look on YouTube for arm workouts at home.
And semi press ups (on your knees).

I'm really laughing at the weights and swimming.....I can't swim so that's out.....

I'll get onto the exercising more - it's just so disappointing, changing for the worse, isn't it?

This is a good workout for arms.

Yes, hit the weights! Strength training works wonders for your whole body, and it's great for your bone density

sniffysnifferson · 15/09/2019 15:39

Lifting heavy weights will most definately help build some muscle to make your arms look nore defined and less flabby.

Ringsender2 · 15/09/2019 15:58

I feel your pain. Beef chippolata arms here. So disappointing. I will look at the links suggested too...!

Definitely weights, you can do some exercises with your own body weight and some hand weights are good. There are lots of upper arm workouts on line. I also found exfoliating/body brushing my arms helps circulation etc. It’s frustrating having to work so much harder to avoid the wobble isn’t it!

BogglesGoggles · 15/09/2019 16:37

Be mindful of sun exposure as well.

PicsInRed · 15/09/2019 16:56

Has anything changed in your routine? New car, new house, new cleaning arrangements?

You'd be surprised the difference that non-gym stuff can make.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/09/2019 17:11

I have this problem.Does jogging tone arms?

Catmar · 15/09/2019 17:46

This has happened to me too. I've bought a set of dumbells and have started exercises with them. Anyone know how long it takes to see some results (impatientGrin)?
