Morning. Thanks if you're reading this.

We've been told that everything needs to be single-use then washed. Which we're doing (obvs). But my question is for how long? We've done the 48 hours.
Although washing bedding and towels after every use probably makes me a proper MN-er, it's quite tedious!

She's still on the course of anti-biotics. Do we have to keep this up until all the sores have healed?

I´m probably in another country from you (but one with excellent health care as well) and just near the end of a massive impetigo attack.
We got oral antibiotics and cream which we had to use both for 7 days twice a day. We did not get the instruction to wash everything after one use (thank god), but we are changing towels more frequently. All in all, our three year old has now had it for a month: it first started on his left side, we got the sores under control with the antibiotic cream. Then his brother and sister got it and he got reinfected with sores now on his legs. While the other kids responded to the treatment much quicker, the three year old really suffered. Actually, the sores close pretty quickly after using the cream, but new bumps kept appearing. I´m diligently also covering these with cream every day and now it finally seems that they are leaving for good.

When my kids have had it I've always been told they need to stay off school until they've been on the antibiotics for 24 hours. I presume thats when it stops being contagious. Maybe that would be when you can stop washing everything after a single use? Although I never did that (wasn't told to) and the infection didn't spread.

We were told to keep in isolation for 48 hrs, but the anti biotics last for a week.

She was diagnosed on Thursday, so we're well past 48 hours, and the blisters are def healing, but I wouldn't say healed yet- the scabs are still quite fresh.

No cream given here, but she doesn't seem to need it.

Think I'll keep going with the washing til the last blister has properly scanned over.

Thanks for your input and for sharing your experiences x
