If you were driving to the South of France, where would you stop?

We're planning next year's holiday and are going to have a week in the Luberon. We're stopping with family on the way down for a few days, but on the way back would like to stop someone else for 3 or 4 days before heading back to Calais.

I'm more familiar with driving to the Languedoc, so not sure where to start looking in terms of locations to drive back. Ideally roughly halfway so we have two days of 5/6 hours drives rather than stopping twice.

Any advice on where it would be lovely to have a few days with a pair of 7 year olds would be great!

Beaune, or is too far?

We did Fontainebleau and Paris 1 year.

Paris with a decent sat nav is fine to drive through.

I liked Troyes. We did a day there on the way south. Not sure though what else there is to do in the area, but Troyes is a lovely medieval town.

Beaune and Troyes both now on the list! Thank you. Will investigate.

Was hoping to avoid Paris in August, but Fontainbleu might be a good shout

Thanks!
