Burn on hand with peeling skin, how to treat? Pic included

I burnt my hand on the oven on Sunday. It wasn't very painful at the time but now looks quite impressive! As you can see from the pic, my skin is starting to peel. I'm a bit worried because it's on a very well-used area, if you know what I mean, so I can't protect it like I could if it were on my arm or something. Should I have a dressing on it or what? Advice appreciated. Thanks Smile

I am no doctor, but it looks to me like it is relatively superficial and is healing. I would keep it clean by washing with mild soap and warm after. Gently dry with a clean towel. Keep it dry as much as you can and let the top layer come off naturally. Only cover it with a loose bandaid if you are doing something where it could get dirty or rubbed on.

Thank you @tryingtobebetterallthetime, that's exactly what I have been doing but was worried in case I should be covering it. I'll carry on Smile

I would smother it in aloe and cover it totally. Especially overnight. Its a miracle cure for burns.

Thanks @Smotheroffive, I could do that at night and then uncover it during the day

You need to keep the wound moist for optimal healing and reduce scarring.
Your own (old) skin will help maintain the moist environment.
I would use these hydrocolloid dressings from Boots and wear a glove during the day for wet cleaning etc.
Also when you have fresh scarring ( once healed) you need to wear sunblock to reduce scarring.

I would keep it covered during the day too. I just meant overnight you can probably get lots of aloe in there and cover it well as your hands are not in washing and so on.

But keep it covered until that redness calms down.
