Living with someone who works shifts

DS has been doing the job for 3 months and it's killing me !

He's either getting in at 2am or going out at 4am. He's very quiet when he's coming and going but I always wake when I hear his key in the door, once I'm awake I have to get up for the loo, then I'm properly awake and can't get back to sleep. Then I'm up at 6am to do my own job while DS spends the day in bed

I'm very proud of how hard he's working and the way he's applied himself to this job and was hoping I'd get used to it but I haven't yet. Is there an answer?

Ear plugs, you're conscious that he is coming in and out in the back of your mind.

Ear plugs or white noise?

A white noise machine in your room to help tune out the door opening. I often work late at night/very early mornings and dh uses a whitenoise machine to stay asleep despite any noise I might make.

Agree with PPs. I work nights and use a white noise app "sleepy sounds" and listen to heavy rain. It drowns out the bin men, lawn mowers, post man etc for me.
