Feeling guilty taking time off work

I was taken into A&E on friday by paramedics. I was given life changing news by the doctor. I feel physically and mentally emotionally awful - weak, drained, in pain. My manager has been amazing.
I tried to logon to my work email and because my head is such a mess I got the password wrong too many times and it's locked me out, which actually is a blessing!
How do I stop myself feeling so bad about taking a few days off?

Think about how you'd respond if it was a colleague of yours that was going through this. You wouldn't be critical, would you?

Have a rest for a few days. I really hope your medical condition can be treated.

Imagine if you make a mistake while your head is all over the place.

Take the time.

I agree with PP that if this was your colleague you would be genuinely concerned for them and not worried about them not working!
I currently have a colleague off long term sick, and if I ask after her it's out of genuine concern and always say to send my love.
We are so hard on ourselves. You need to be kind to yourself and take the time you need Flowers

Thank you. I do generally need to be kinder to myself. My parents instilled such a work ethic in us that I find it difficult to sit still and not be productive. I really need to rest up. And in my role, a mistake can have big consequences. One day at a time now. Thank you.
