Anyone else completely floored every time they have a cold?

It results in me spending a minimum of 3 days solidly in bed because I have no energy and my body aches all over. It is so debilitating. I normally have a day or 2 with a sore throat/sneezing/runny nose and then for a few days afterwards I am completely floored and barely able to get out of bed.

I took a day off work the last time and I feel so pathetic saying I'm too ill to come in because I have the cold Hmm I've explained how bad I get with it and my work did I should see my doctor about it.

The next time I was at the doctors I asked if it was normal for me to be this unwell every time and they said it was normal for me and people react differently.

I'm very lucky that I have my DH around to pick up the slack and look after our children while I wallow in my bed.

Does anyone else suffer badly when hit with, I presume, a common cold?

I feel your pain op, it affects me in exactly the same way! I don't get colds often, only about once or twice a year, but when I do they knock me out!

I don't often get colds, but when I do I'm like that.

Which is why I'm suspicious of MNetters who say they refuse to take time of work with a cold. I'm no skiver, hut hell yeah I won't think twice about phoning in sick with one.

I'm not floored by bugs but I nearly always get post viral fatigue, ie I am totally shattered for AGES afterwards.

It's so depressing and boring feeling tired and wiped out for weeks that I HATE getting a cold as I know I'm in for a month of feeling low level shit.

And like lots of PPs, I eat well, hardly drink, exercise several times a week etc etc.

Weird - I always thought I was the only one! I do try and motor through it as much as possible with vicks, lozenges, decongestants, ibuprofen, paracetamol, lemon & honey etc. but still end up feeling awful. My sister is the other end of the spectrum and just shrugs a cold off (unfair) . DH is the same - he just feels a bit sniffly and 3 days later is fine (double unfair).

Day and night nurse is really helpful if you feel rough.

Yes. I don't get colds very often but when I do they really floor me. They last about six weeks too. I have cough variant asthma. I'm not sure if that's why.

Since I had my son my body has gone from bad to worse with problems. But. On the flip side I don’t get colds anymore. I have had one cold since he was born and that lasted only a few days.
My son is 15!!!!!!! I don’t miss having them

I'm not poorly too often but it totally floors me, and i have a massive phobia of having a blocked nose so i also feel all panicky with it.

I get the mega high temp, shivers, sore watery eyes, blocked nose, skin that just hurts when anything touches it. Takes me at least a week to get over. Luckily I'm a sahm so all i have to do is get the kids to school & then i can collapse for a few hours.

Dh gets poorly, but all he seems to need is an early night & then he's fine. Maybe a bit snotty still but able to get on with his days.

Touch wood, I've not had a cold like that in about a year so I'm doing well.

I hate the 'its just a cold'. When I have a cold I feel bloody awful! But there is this idea that we should all power on because 'its just a cold'.
