My toddler still drools constantly.

I’m not sure whether I should be concerned or not. Since my DD was six months she has dribbled constantly. She is now two and a half and still dribbles to the point where her poor little chin is always wet despite constant wiping and her tops are constantly wet. No other children her age wear bibs so I’m sure this is unusual.
She has all her teeth.

Are your GP. My friends little one was like this and needed his tonsils and adenoids out.

*see not are!

So does mine. It’s reducing now. I pop a bandana style bib on him and he’s fine.

My son did this and he was given a hearing test? and the consulant said for him to suck lollipops regularly to exercise the muscles. He said it to my child who took the need for lolipos really seriously.
So it probably worth speaking to the gp.

Poor muscle control in the mouth ?
Large adenoids ?
Large tonsils ?

starryeyedsnowgirl · 08/09/2019 21:03

My DD was like thismuntil she had her tonsils out age 3. She just couldn't swallow well. She also snored really loudly at night- her tonsils were take out as a result as it was causing an obstruction to her breathing.

Embracelife · 08/09/2019 21:03

How is the rest of her development speech motor skills? Maybe weak muscles? Ask gp

RosieBdy · 08/09/2019 21:04

My DS was exactly the same! I felt he was too old for bibs but we went through so many tops each day.
He eventually grew out of it, by 4ish... We laugh now, looking back at DVDs of those toddler years - you can actually see the dribble running down his chin as he’s singing 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed!
Not sure how helpful that is, other than he did eventually grow out of it.

There's an Embarrassing Bodies episode about this, the little girl started school and she was wet through from dribbling - she had a tongue tie snipped and her tonsils and adenoids out. Does your DD snore?

3boysandabump · 08/09/2019 21:19

Ds2 was exactly the same.

I ended up taking him to the GP who was referring him to ENT.

The referral never came through but I never chased it up because he stopped doing it pretty much overnight. He was about 5.

He still has large adenoids/tonsils but they've never caused him any other issues.

BethanyGilbert · 08/09/2019 21:21

Thanks for the replies. I will get her in the doctors.

My 2 year old is still very dribbly - she does have a tongue tie and I wonder about her hearing too (speech very unclear) so maybe it's related.

Reading this made me realise I might have an issue with my son, he's only 16 months and is just getting the last couple of teeth so it could be this but he has drooled constantly since he could sit up. Even at 8 weeks, if you held him upright he'd drool. Now it's really bad, I go through 20 dribble bibs per day at least. He also snores a bit so am going to see the doc too.
